Yeshivah Bais Hatorah To Reopen Under New Director

yeshivah bais hatorah_wmFIRST REPORT: Yeshivah Bais Hatorah will be reopening under a new leadership TLS has confirmed. The Yeshivah, with approximately 400 boys which has been closed for approximately two weeks, has been taken over by Rabbi Shlomo Chaim Kanarek Shlita and will be running on the same Derech Halimud, with slight modifications.

On Wednesday, a meeting will be held for parents who wish to remain with the previous Derech Halimud without the modifications, and will have the opportunity to join a second school ran by the previous directors – Rabbi Luria and Rabbi Klein – of Bais Hatorah.

This evening, a meeting was called for all parents at the Bais Shaindel building, where Rabbi Kanarek Shlita announced the takeover. The meeting concluded moments ago.

Prior to the Bais Shaindel meeting, a closed-door meeting was held at the home of the Mashgiach Reb Matisyahu Solomon Shlita, attended by the Rosh Hayeshivah.

  1. brilliant move reb shragie shain, a great believer in the derech halimud without the hangups! ahh daas torah from the mashgiach!!

  2. Another pathetic ending to a sad situation. The town keeps running back to the same people as saviors thus perpetuating the current situation. The problems will continue on. What we need here are NEW people to get involved and run moisdos not the same ones.

  3. #3 bais hatorah was started and run by “new people” and look where it got them, there are other schools recently here, which were also started by new people and all it brought to was fights and failure a school is a business and needs to be run like one, and only a professional in that field can succeed

  4. Sounds much more complicated than what you are making it out to be. Basicaly bais hatorah closed and rabbi kanarek opened a new school. And invited the old bais hatorah people to join with the regular mehalach. What’s with the old building? Will it go into foreclosure? Will bais hatora file bankruptcy? What’s the real scoop?

  5. Please note, this is not a takeover, this is a totally new mosad that is being run by Rabbi Kanarek, Landsman and Shain.
There will be more than “slight” modifications.
Rabbi Kanarek in his speech last night stated that starting this mosad will be similar to when he married of his daughters, where he told the shadchan, all he wants is someone “normal, normal, normal”.
This in effect is stating that the intent of this mosad will be towards mainstreaming to a regular yeshiva mahalach, which might actually be good, while Rabbi Luria and Klein will maintain the old and traditional Mahalach

  6. I’m curious to see three years down the road, which school will be more successful – Rabbi Kanarek’s new, more normal and mainstream one; or the original mehalech which was until now not self-sufficient.
I’m willing to place my bets on Kanarek.

  7. To # 19,

Regardless of whether or not the new owner and administration see hatzlocha down the road, I am sure it will have zero to do with the debate over the derech halimud and everything to do with how well the operation is run..

  8. Rabbosai, I’m good friends w/ the parties involved. Don’t let them fool. That’s Really Malach Gavriel dressed up as Shlomeh Chaim Kanarek. What else can u call a Tzaddik who’s running now School # 5.
