FIRST REPORT: Sources tell TLS that close to 40 staff members from the Lakewood School District will be laid off. Sources say that close to 30 certified staff and 10 non-certified staff were notified of the layoffs. The layoffs reportedly are not budget-related, but due to performance issues.
It’s unknown at this time from which schools the staff members are from.
The layoffs will take effect June 30th, the last day of school. TLS-CCP.
well if were spending the money we should be getting the best proformance availible ,
With your grammar and spelling, we definitely were shortchanged when you went to school!
well #1 .. obviously your school didn’t spend too much money ..
what source informed the TLS about this. It’s about time
Soon the unions will tell us how terrible it is that we are laying off teachers.
Thank you for standing up for the children and the taxpayers, and not backing down from all the negativity put out there by the unions and the special interests.
more busing is needed in Lakewood.
Does this mean that we will be seeing fewer Board of Education cars driving around on Sunday (which is not a school day for the public school system)?
are there openings now?
what happened to tenure? They had close to forty without tenure?
Great, now they cut the budget by 2 million in salaries.
Hey Ben Eliezer
The Public schools may be closed but maintenance work is done, it is a shame you write before you think
I am sure that the positions cut will need to be filled, savings only on newer teacher [if they would want to come to Lakewood]
Don’t be so quick to judge, non-performance according to whom?
Close the Public schools? Is what is going to happen? How soon? Will they send to Jackson or Brick? It will be cheaper for us
Are they closing the schools yet? Are they going to jackson? Or brick?
It’s about time the board of Ed looked at the PS budget. Till now they have only cut special Ed services.
Hey #11:
Maintenance work is usually done with trucks, not passenger sedans.
the public schools are a mess. If it’s possible to send our children to brick or jackson I am sure all the parents would welcome the move. How do I do this without moving. The children need a new direction, jackson and brick east and west
First off, public education is a RIGHT and NO PUBLIC school in Lakewood is and will close! Layoffs of teachers of ALL KIND were made, so when you make these negative comments and vote NO for our school budget, you are affecting “your community” as well!!! But I guess that’s more important when in actuality taxes will go up because you use Lakewood PUBLIC bussing!
They should be cut…nd maybe replace the 40 that care…exactly i jus read they cut funding for special Ed..lakewood schools are useless n they have people workin in our school without the education to do so what happened to having a degree in teaching just to work in any school….
The public schools are a mess and no one is helping, only cutting.
Other districts do not have to take our children. Cutting is not the answer. Everyone should read what happens to public schools if they are not fixed. Charter schools will not be the answer. Everone read what happens if Christie puts in Charter schools. You will be shocked.
I KNOW FROM A FACT, THAT THESE PEOPLE HAVE BEEN IN THEIR POSITIONS FOR 15 YRS OR MORE. SORRY, IT IS NOT DUE TO THEIR PERFORMANCE, IT IS THE WORK OF THE BOARD AND IT IS INDEED DUE TO THE BUDGET, DON’T LET THIS BOARD BUFFALO YOU AS THEY HAVE BEEN DOING. I THANK GOD EVERYDAY THAT I RETIRED FROM THE DISTRICT AND DO NOT HAVE TO DEAL WITH THEM ANYMORE..
