BARUCH DAYAN HA’EMES: [Updated] We regret to inform you of the passing of Steven Mayer, the Long Island man who had gone missing on October 4th. The family was notified about an hour ago that his body was found by a ground-keeper of a private wooded property in the Riverhead area – an area combed by thousands of volunteers.
A source tells TLS he was found in his vehicle, but that has not yet been confirmed.
Steven Mayer Z’L went missing early Monday morning en route to his office, and was not heard from since.
Thousands of volunteers from Lakewood, Monsey, Brooklyn and Long Island searched by ground, air and water, until the search was called off a week later, as extensively covered on TLS.
Levaya information will be posted when available.
UPDATE: The Levaya will be taking place Monday morning at the Sinai Chapel in Queens , NY, at 11:30 a.m.
Baruch Dayan Haemes!

A big kidush Hashem would also be if we show support by attending the levaya. If you can make it, it would be nice.

Fyi, “en route” is correct.

A big thank you to M T and Ace from Lakewood Chaveirim for getting the big search started and bringing all the other org. In.
Baruch Dayan HaEmes.
Was there a cause of death?
I am a bit confused. Why is there a grammar discussion when you read about a tragedy? En VS. On??? Don’t you think that this discussion is a bit frivolous?
#9 So true.

What is the Hebrew name of Steven (Shlomo) Mayer’s father?
The cause of death was ruled as hypothermia. He was dead for some time. The area he was found was within the area searched. Its unfortunate that he was not found. Regardless, the volunteers did the best they can, and it just wasn’t bashert.
