BREAKING NEWS: [PHOTOS & VIDEO] [UPDATED 5:07PM] A 95 year old man who went missing 4 days ago, was found alive. The man, from a Route 70 Nursing Home went missing early this week, but was only reported missing Thursday, sources say, prompting a search by police.

The search intensified this morning with the assistance of the NJSP, K9 units and Chaveirim, searching the lakes at the neighboring Leisure Village and surrounding areas.

A short time later, the Brick Diving Team was called in to assist with the search as well.

At about 2:00 PM this afternoon, Employees from the neighboring Nursing Home went searching in the nearby woods and came across the elderly man, still with a pulse, laying in the woods.

The man was transported to an area Hospital with Paramedics. TLS.

  1. what area hospital? I was on my way home on rt 9 south i saw hatzolah going north on 9 towards freehold. glad they found him and hope he will be o.k. family must beyond words.

  2. He is not from Leisure Village. He is from the neighboring nursing home. This morning, dogs tracked his scent to the bank of the 54 acre lake at Leisure Village (at two different points), but he apparently had walked back to the woods near the neighboring nursing home. The divers from Brick had begun searching the bottom of the Lake at the east end, where the scent had been detected, when the call came in that the man had been found elsewhere.

  3. once again, something we should have as a city and do not. We rely on other towns more and more to due our jobs. i saw a police boat at the night out, so is that all it is for show.

  4. To #1, what does it matter what dive team was called in!!!! Lakewood probably does not have a dive team, being that there is no ocean in Lakewood only lakes… All that matters is the authorities were looking for this elderly man that was in trouble. Get over yourselves, about Lakewood. We are all suppose to be neighbors that help each other in time of need. Remember the way it use to be, when we cared about each other.

  5. The nursing home is Leisure Park. It is near Leisure Village. He was able to walk to and from Leisure Village from there without going onto Rt. 70 by going through a mall complex that separates them. When I saw state helicopters, bloodhounds, divers, numerous police and other agencies doing a search on Friday, I assumed that the fellow might have been missing for a short time, say from the night before. When I was told that he was last seen on Monday but reported missing on Friday I too was taken aback.

  6. I think the state should investigate the nursing home as to its protocals and also investigate the staff on duty when the person disappeared and all associated with the situation be held accountable. To wait a few days and then report a “missing person” is pathetic. Where were his family? Possible he has none BUT none the less he went missing. Would be intersting to hear the nursing home side of the story.

  7. This is crazy, what is happening in Lakewood. We had so many emergencies over the past few weeks bringing in other towns to take care of us. We had a haz-mat call which brought in Berkley Twp. Haz-Mat Team, we had a missing person bringing in Brick Dive Team, now I sit jear and wait for what else is gonna happen. Maybe we will see the surrounding towns and not Lakewood coming in to fight fires, protect our community from crime, save our loved ones feeling ill, free us when our cars are all mangled and tangled together. Sure do miss the times when Lakewood was able to handle just about any type of emergency, we used to hardly call upon others to help, Lakewood was able to handle water related emergencies, hazardous materials incidents, and the fire department even had a team to handle some specialized incidents as well. Its starting to look like all of the equipment Lakewood has is just for show and tell and not for emergencies. We always hear about these highly trained employees that are working for Lakewood but never see them put their training to use. It sure would be nice to see Lakewood be able to take care of these problems on their own again without relying on other towns for support. Come on Lakewood wake up and use the employees you have to protect us and put together your own special unit or units.

  8. Leisure Park is not a nursing home, it is the combination of Independent, and Assisted Living. The particular person was from Independent Living, and therefore has the right to come and go as he wishes, just like you and me.
