Ashreinu that we have such clear Daas Torah to listen to.
Wow powerful shocking and not what I expected
Wow! I have never seen such clear הדרכה from our esteemed גדולים, this is a VERY strong msg.
I am honestly not sure how anyone can take the אחריות not to vote after seeing this
Two serious questions:
(1)Thirty years ago and earlier the Gedoley Torah strongly opposed people who did things a lot less provocative and guarantied to make enemies than the Schnall campaign. Those groups also claimed to be doing so on behalf and bringing major benefit to Klal Yisroel. No explanation has been given as to why Schnall is different and not included in their concerns. If you are telling me to listen to Daas Torah, how can I ignore the prevailing view of thirty years ago and earlier ? Particularly when thirty years ago they were giving very clear Gemorahs and other mekoros to support their opposition.
(2)If Schnall can say that he won’t run unless he has the unanimous support of the Moetzes why can’t I say the same? Why can’t I say I won’t vote for him until I see the unanimous support of all Lakewood rabbonim? Which I certainly have not.
To your first question. The obvious answer is we listen to the Gedolim of today. As the pasuk says Asher Yihiyeh Bayamim Haheim. They have a clearer view of what is happening today, than the Gedolim 30 years ago had of what is happening today.
To your second question. Don’t be willfully blind. Which Lakewood Rabbonim don’t support him. Show me even one.
You clearly didn’t listen to his speech to listen to the chachomim and not question them. You can’t use gedolim that aren’t alive to say their opinion, for your argument against alive gedolim.
That sounds just like what Conservative Judaism and worse says. I guarantee you that Rav Sortizkin would not agree that you should not use you heard from Gedolim who are not alive to question what those who are alive say. Whatever his view about listening to Gedolim is, he certainly did not say that Gedolim who are not alive should not be listened to.
Because he said that to make it clear that he wouldn’t get himself involved if it was a machlokes involving the gedolim. While you seem to be saying this specifically to create a machlokes while you have the support of none of the gedolim.
The Scoop did not post my original response (I don’t know why). To you first question the answer is obviously we must listen to the Gedolim of nowadays as the pasuk says Asher Yihyeh Bayamim Haheim. And two your second question which one of the Lakewood Rabbonim do not support him?
Really? Is it so obvous to listen to the Gedolim of today? The Gemora says Asher Yiyheh Bayamim Haheim, can you ask those who aren’t alive? Even if he isn’t as big as those who are no longer alive you should ask him. Where do you see that if those who are no longer alive and bigger already said differently you should NOT listen to them?
And if you believe that to be true then how can you believe in listening to Gedolim at all, knowing that the next generation can say whatever they want?
Plus was that Posuk really said about a question of who to vote for in an election?
Really? The pasuk also says Kichol Asher Yorucha. Do you know what Kichol means? It means everything. We need to listen to everything they say. Including who to vote for in an election!
I also don’t understand why you think we need to worry about what they will say in the future? It doesn’t say in the pasuk listen to what they will say in the future.
And you didn’t answer me, which Lakewood Rabbonim don’t support Schnall?
Is there an element of chilul Hashem to vote for dems party who are especially lowlifes?
There is no chilul Hashem to listen to the Gedolim
Why would we want toavoh curriculum in our schools?
Because according to the derasha, it’s the will of the Moetzes.
Victor Davis Hansen: “Gaza has torn the scab off and we’re seeing the PUTRID wound of what the Democratic party is.” The repeated insistance that Avi Schnall’s alliance with the shmutz Democrat party is “daas Torah” is heartabreaking. In the last two days I’ve done considerable research into the inyan of “daas Torah” and have concluded that this is NOT IT! Call me an apikorus if you like…but the Dems are a threat to Klal Yisrael residing in both America and Israel and there are no rationales, including the olam’s interest in
pie-in-the-sky “tuition relief”, to justify voting for any Democrat candidate and thereby strengthening their party’s evil hand in politics.
