BREAKING: Lakewood’s Spruce Street Elementary School placed on brief lockdown after report of student with knife

The Spruce Street Elementary School was placed on a brief lockdown this morning after it was reported a student may have a knife, TLS has learned.

Police and EMS responded to the school approximately 11:20 AM after a student reported to school officials that a fellow student had a knife in his backpack, officials told TLS.

The lockdown was lifted a short time later after a search for the weapon turned out empty.

(Note: The lockdown was not posted until it was lifted so as not to frighten parents.)
