BREAKING: Lakewood’s Camp Kanfei Yonah (CKY) to reopen in the Catskills (PHOTOS)

Lakewood’s Camp Kanfei Yona (CKY) will be reopening – but in the Catskills, TLS has learned.

The “Camp With a Knock” announced last month it would be closing its doors after 17 years, sending hundreds of parent scrambling to find a place for their children for the summer.

But a short time after the announcement, a new opportunity arose.

“After we decided to close, with much Siyata D’shmaya, this opportunity and grounds just fell into our hands,” Reb Heshy Weber, CKY’s founder told TLS. “This wasn’t planned.”

Reb Weber says the camp, which will serve boys grades 5-8, will have a Stoliner camp style.

“This will be a camp with a warm Heimishe atmosphere, full of Ruach Mit a Yiddishe Taam,” says Reb Heshy. “We moved up the Knock to a higher level.”

With the phones ringing off the hook, Reb Heshy says he expects registration to fill up quickly.

  1. This is not considered BREAKING news… This is an advertisement or just plain news. But why call it breaking, it just takes away from the real breaking,

    • Actually this is pretty big news, given the fact that this is one of the biggest camps out there and many parents were upset about the closing. Keep up the great work Rabb Weber and staff.

      • I wish them much hatzlocha, but how would a camp in the Catskills benefit people in Lakewood? This is not big news for those who were upset about CKY closing since it can’t help them.

  2. Now this unreal. I don’t know if this is fake news, yesterday they were closing now they’re in the mountains. But if it’s real and they keep that style of giving it all they got, it will take over the mountains. This is very exciting news, at least for my nephews;) they will be pumped. I wish him much hatzlacha
