BREAKING: Lakewood Transportation Consultant Gus Kakavas resigns

Gus Kakavas, the Lakewood School District’s Transportation Consultant, has resigned.

No reason was given in his termination letter, which is expected to be accepted tonight.

Kakavas served as the consultant for seven years.

“Gus the Bus” ( as he is fondly known as in local busing circles) will be sorely missed. His expertise and stellar interpersonal skills are a rare commodity. He was able to uniquely balance himself between local govt,bus company management, drivers, and parents.
He should have the Best of luck in all his future endeavors!

Gus was the backbone of Lakewood Student Transportation during the roughest times. The tiering battles with nonpublic schools, working to implement the LSTA, severe funding shortfalls, trying to make the system more efficient in an attempt to maintain courtesy busing. The district and certain administrators both public and private will sorely miss him. You don’t really understand what you’ve lost until it’s gone. 7 Good Luck Gus!
