TLS has learned that the Lakewood school district has returned approximately 9 million dollars to the State with Board approval. The money was for the school years 2014-15, and 2015 -16, and were earmarked for nonpublic services.
When asked about it, statewide special education expert – and the district’s former counsel and nonpublic special ed consultant – Michael Inzelbuch initially said, “cannot be.”
After further research, Inzelbuch confirmed that while children languish for and are denied services, the district claims there is no money to help children in need. (See attached Nonpublic Project Completion Reports for the 2 years in question.)
Inzelbuch stated, “It is almost like the district is encouraging parents to go to SCHI, Center or Alpha as public school students, since as nonpublic students they are told no monies are available when in fact there are millions. One less Afikoman to find this year. Better put, 9 million plus Afikomans found while Dovid, Sorah, Janes and others who attend nonpublic schools suffer.”
He added, “Time to replace most of the Board, professionals involved, and… It is not any one person’s fault – it is a swamp that needs to be drained and provided direction. Where is the Chancellor?”
As to the State Monitor, Inzelbuch stated, “Cannot blame everything on him. He needs what to work with, and he is too busy fending off the latest antics.”
Great job mr inzelbuch on helping the klal keep up the great work!
