  1. The best news is that Chris Smith won by a landslide. He is a true public servant and I’m proud that we all showed our thanks for the difficult work he does with dedication.

  2. I didn’t expect the results to be any different. Coles and D’Elia received the major endorsements, so the winners were already decided at that point. Every one else just wasted their time.

  3. To Thank you – ur 100% right. The shock is that this yr we got the tax increases before the election & still an incumbant won. Amazing. Ppl keep voting for the same ppl & get hit over the head every time. Again and again.

  4. Ray Coles & Mike D’elia look we as a community voted for U. Now please let’s get to work & please see what U can do to Lowet our Taxes!! We had enough tax Hikes until now Wishing U both Great Luck!!

  5. When will be the kiddush? Years ago the candidates would come to yeshiva and promise a kiddush (among all the other promises) after election night and after election night they gave a kiddush, if I remember correctly in the yeshiva dining room. How about this year a nice kiddush from Coles and D’elia.

  6. I’ve never voted (unregistered and proud of it) so excuse me for asking the following question. How is it that for committeeman there were a different number of voters than for say, congressman? If people are at the voting centers to vote for committeeman shouldn’t they be voting for congressman too?

  7. Actually if you look at the numbers, more people voted for the congressional and senatorial races than the committee race. 13,620 for Congress. 25,915 for Committee, with two votes each, that means there was a potential of 27,240 of votes for Committee. Seeing that Coles won by 722 votes, leaving 1325 un-pulled levers could have made a difference in the race.

I am sure there were many people who just voted for one candidate, as they wanted to better their candidates chances to win.

  8. confused the fact that you are proud of never voting should already answer the question that you are a confused soul. In any case to be more specific ( you may find this out if you ever saw the inside of a voting booth) you can vote only for some things and leave other races blank

  9. Congressman gets just one vote, so if there were 13,500 people at the poles, that is how many voted for congress. On the other hand, Twp Committee gets 2 votes so if 13,500 voted, that would be 27,000 total.

Also, some, like myself wanted to vote for Chris Smith, say, but did not want to vote for some of the other candidates who I don’t like or trust. So I did my duty and voted but withheld some votes in protest.

  10. Unregistered , I think u should be ashamed that you don’t use the opportunity to vote.
To everyone else, please don’t look at issues so simple-mindly as tax increase . It’s a bigger town, there are more expenses, there are cut- backs from the state. Do you want less police presence, do you want higher property taxes instead? The job should be to have a transparent township, with as minimal waste as possible. We should feel the committe people are understanding our daily issues and working to resolve them. We can’t always fight Trenton, although it’s worth it to have good relationships. Let’s please look at this a little more sophisticated than taxes.

  11. Steve,You walked off like Royalty. We loved you as Mayor and Lakewood will always appreciate you . Steven Spielberg couldn’t do better than you on your exit speech.I know pronounce you Steven Class!
    Class for President!!!!!
