A new mask mandate for K-12 students in New Jersey will apply to private schools as well, rather than just public schools, Governor Murphy announced today.
TLS reported Thursday that the governor would announce a mask mandate for students while in school, but it was at first believed to apply only to public schools.
In a release posted moments ago, Governor Murphy said he is signing an executive order requiring “masking in the indoor premises of all public, private, and parochial preschool, elementary, and secondary school buildings, with limited exceptions.”
Those exceptions are:
- When doing so would inhibit the individual’s health, such as when the individual is exposed to extreme heat indoors;
- When the individual has trouble breathing, is unconscious, incapacitated, or otherwise unable to remove a face covering without assistance;
- When a student’s documented medical condition or disability, as reflected in an Individualized Education Program (IEP) or Educational Plan pursuant to Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, precludes use of a face covering;
- When the individual is under two years of age;
- When an individual is engaged in an activity that cannot be performed while wearing a mask, such as eating and drinking or playing an instrument that would be obstructed by the face covering;
- When the individual is engaged in high-intensity aerobic or anerobic activity;
When a student is participating in high-intensity physical activities during a physical education class in a well-ventilated location and able to maintain a physical distance of six feet from all other individuals; or - When wearing a face covering creates an unsafe condition in which to operate equipment or execute a task.
The mandate has already caused an outcry from numerous educators and parents who argue that children, who are at low risk of complications from a Covid-19 infection, should not be required to wear masks all day, which likely poses a bigger health risk to them than the virus itself.
If parents think he will not come for Lakewood now that he thinks the election is in the bag…he will.

This damaging (want to say “torturing”, but afraid that I’ll be dismissed even though if you ask the kids that is the way they feel) of children must stop. Who is going to pick up the pieces wants the damage has been done? Please Mr Murphy let these kids have a normal childhood.
We need to fight this tooth and nail! Anyone who agrees with this is a child abuser and needs to be locked up! There is zero place for masking anyone, ESPECIALLY children!
There is no sound evidence that wearing masks are bad for healthy children’s health.
Why is it so bad to wear a mask? It’s good to teach children that caring about others lives is important. This is what we live for!
Also, we still don’t know the long-term effects on children who have had covid. There is also some speculation amongst experts that the Delta variant may be more dangerous for kids and adults. Each variant is different.

I think the big eye doctor should see a nutritionist about losing some weight. It is unhealthy to be big, people should keep their BMI at a healthy level.

Maybe they should conduct a study on Lakewood- large population, didn’t mask last year and see if we saw bodies piling up on the streets. Wake up people!!! Vote republican like your life depended on it because it does.

Of course those of you who are ignorant, don’t care about “saving lives” and have not breathlessly been following every detail of the huge amounts of deaths in children and adults associated with delta need to become aware that delta has been shown to be extremely contagious and dangerous near any voting booths and around election day. Studies further show that Republicans who already had covid are twice as likely to get covid again and not only drop dead BUT immediately infect any vaccinated Democrat who is even thinking of voting in person.
THEREFORE, every Democrat Govornor will be issuing an executive order mandating mail in voting (while wearing a mask and properly socially distanced of course) in time for election day.
Coincidentally every Democrat Govornor will then win reelection while letting everyone know “your safety is our top priority”.

Here is what I have an issue with:
439 people died from Covid yesterday…out of 328,200,000 in the US. That means you have a 1.3376 out of 1,000,000 chance of dying from Covid.
By comparison, getting struck by lightning is about a 1 in 15,300 chance. Are we shutting down the economy, and forcing to people to live under lockdowns, every time it rains?
Alzheimers, Cancer, Heart Disease, Unintentional Injury, and Doctor Error EACH kill more people every year than Covid is, at this time.
Keep it in perspective.
My grandchildren in e”y had to wear masks in school. They got used to it & barely mentioned it. They survived. Whether or not you agree with it, relax. It will not harm the children unless they see their parents freaking out about it. And it might just help some people too.

How many parents here would send their son out without tzitzit if the child is uncomfortable? On a hot summer day, do you let your daughter dress tzunis? No? Of course not!! But a mask that protects them and others starts a debate.
