BREAKING: Governor Murphy Lifts Stay-At-Home Orders; Comes as Governor takes heat for violating his own Executive Order

Governor Murphy announced today that he is signing an executive order immediately lifting his stay-at-home order that has been in place since March, as well as certain restrictions on indoor and outdoor gatherings.

Murphy said the Executive Order will allow for larger indoor religious services (25% of a building’s capacity, or 50 people, whichever is lower) and outdoor gatherings of more than 100 people for First Amendment-protected outdoor activities like religious services and protests.

Additionally, the governor said he anticipates being able to raise the limit on non-protest and non-religious activities to 250 people on June 22nd, and to 500 people on July 3rd. School districts planning graduations should prepare for a 500-person limit when graduations are allowed to resume on July 6th.

Governor Murphy continues to come under blistering criticism after participating in protests that violated his own executive orders.

  1. What coincidental timing. I’m sure this sudden move has nothing to do with our Supreme Ruler and Protector getting called out for violating his own order.

  2. I don’t see what difference it makes how many people can congregate together, outdoors or indooors. The demonstrations had way more than 250 people. Schools should reopen. Stores should reopen. Shuls should have unlimited people allowed. In other words go back to normal. If you want to stay isolated and wear a mask, you’re free to do so.

  3. Read our lips Mr. Murphy!
We couldn’t care less anymore with any of your regulations! HYPOCRIT! We will pray and congregate any way we want.

  4. Maybe now morahs can start so that mothers can get back to work so that businesses in lakewood can actually start functioning properly. we are all working hard. Morahs work hard, we signed up in the beginning of the yrar for a full year… we understand that you had to shut down… at this point there is no reason to stay closed, if you cannot do it for medical reasons it is the morah’s duty to find a subsitute that is the commitment they made at the beginning of the year.

    • umm yes there’s a reason to stay closed … they weren’t given the ok to open. it’s ridiculous that they weren’t but their hands are tied right now. to blame morahs is just rude and misplaced.

    • Also: all the Morah’s I know umm have their kids at home now?! Many of them have demanding carpools too at this point! How can they open?!

  5. Unfortunately, politics has taken over in this situation and now the authorities must open up more quickly than may be wise. The COVID virus does not care if you are Republican or Democrat. It does not care if you are Liberal or Conservative. It will spread if people allow it to.

Shul is still a very dangerous place to be. Contagious viruses like this one can spread very quickly if precautions (masks, distancing, people limits) are not taken. Everyone wants to be a hero and stand up to the politicians. Don’t be such a chacham!

We saw how many in our communities, all over the world, died – in greater numbers than the general population. The numbers fell because we followed these rules. Our communities, with our larger numbers and our social structure, are far more susceptible than the general population. “Venishmartem ME’OD lenafshoseichem”!

    • we have had shuls open with no increase in cases what so ever so don’t tell me that it is still dangerous face facts the virus is gone time to get back to normal not any new normal just plain the way it used to be as there is no longer any threat from this virus to our community just because there was one a few weeks back doesn’t mean that there is today just open every thing back up

  6. Clarification:
It’s 50 indoors for religious and non religious

    It’s 100 outdoors for non-religious and non-protests

It’s GREATER than 100 for 1st amendment gatherings such as political protests and religious gatherings. Meaning NO LIMITS on outdoors religion and protests.

All I can say it’s a shame the protests weren’t held indoors or we may have gotten no limits on indoor religious too. Hopefully that can can change soon if it can somehow “feel different to the governor” as he said at yesterday’s new conference.

  7. @workingmom, do you expect the same morah who you paid 25 percent to over last four months to now Open everything and open up for last two weeks of June ? Especially when the Morah’s children are not in school or camp and are all home ? Maybe she would have if you would have paid little more than $100 a month while she was closed . On top of this your child was by your side for last couple of months and now you want to throw them back into playgroup for two weeks ? Maybe offer to pay the full month of June instead of just last two weeks and then they might consider it if they need the money

  8. To the Lakewood scoop.

Please stop posting what the Governor says, it makes no difference anyway!!!!!!!

He is a two faced person, and made thousands of people suffer for nothing!!!!

This is just my humble opinion!!!

  9. but watch your special interest advisers keep telling you to keep voting for the liberal phonies! and the young innocent yungerliet that dont know anything about politics b.h. will follow what ever they say, unreal

  10. Mr Cuomo Mr Murphy and Mr de blasio have shown they’re in way over their heads…. would be a great favor to their constituents to just give it up resign with grace

  11. there are many people who feel better TODAY because the governor went out in the heat, and took the heat, to make them feel right, like they should be feeling. illegal- yes, but not wrong. it’s not the law that’s important here, that can be dealt with later, it can be revised, adjusted or rewritten. it’s the people’s feelings TODAY that cannot be ignored. many people feel better that the governor was there for them, was out there for them and that’s what important. never EVER let the law prevent you from doing what’s right for your neighbors or for your own. the laws of this country were never made for that kind of interpretation. so yes, LEARN from the governor and don’t hurt the freedom of others in the name of the law. that may be YOUR law, but that is NOT THE LAW IN THE UNITED STATES of AMERICA.
