Governor Murphy will announce tomorrow that he is mandating masks to be worn by students when returning to school in September as Covid-19 infections surge in New Jersey.
The governor had previously insisted that he will not require students to wear masks, but has now changed his mind, according to Politico.
The CDC and American Academy of Pediatrics have both recently recommended that K-12 students wear masks while in school, after which Governor Murphy said he will review their recommendation before making a decision.
Numerous doctors and public health experts oppose the mask mandate for young students, saying that children are at very low-risk of severe illness from Covid-19. However, proponents of the mask mandate on students say they could still pass the virus to their teachers and family members, and as such should wear face coverings.
It is not yet clear whether the rising cases in the state will also prompt Governor Murphy to allow virtual instruction take place. He has been adamant until now that all classes will take place in-person.

Masks will be a good thing. As a health care professional and a person of risk factors wearing a mask will protect your family members school officials and other students
The viruses such as the flu and common cold will be transmitted less as well
Since most building do not have windows or air filtration systems to block the viruses it would not hurt the children or the adults tomMASK UP!

Stupit masks poor kids poor us we have no choice…little children are forced to have their nose and mouth covered for hours on end to sweat and have a hard time breathing…Hopefully the private schools will have enough brains feel bad for the others my heart goes out to them!!
