A Good Samaritan who stopped to help people in an overturned accident early this morning, ended up becoming the victim when he was carjacked and left on the side of the road, TLS has learned.
The harrowing incident happened approximately 3:25 AM on the 195 in Jackson when the Good Samaritan noticed an overturned vehicle. However, when he got out to help them, the men turned the tables on him and carjacked him – possibly at gunpoint.
The suspects, described as two black males, made off with the victim’s Hyundai.
Authorities in Jackson, Lakewood and the other surrounding townships are on the lookout for the vehicle.
Anyone with information is asked to call the police.

Can we please stop using the term “Good Samaritan” – please learn where this term came from and how it was originally used (against Yidden)?
Agreed! It is an anti-Semitic term from the Christian bible.
It is not an antisemitic term used in the Bible. It was actually the Jewish community that hated the Samaritans. The reason he is called a good Samaritan is because he showed mercy and grace when no one else would. I think it beneficial to know what you are saying before you state it as fact.
Can you teach us how helping someone is against Yidden? I wouldn’t know where to look to find out. Shalom.
The point of the original story was “Samaritan = Good Guy; Jews = Bad Guys”.
The symbolism was based on the notion that the Samaritans were oppressed by the Jews at the time. Needless to say, that viewpoint is not shared by Jews themselves.
The “Good” Samaritans were historically sadistic people.
to ek:
What do you suggest?
Maybe you tell us where the term came from since i have no idea and probably most people have no idea.
i really wonder if anyone has an idea where it came from.
Americans perceive the term “good samaritan” as a way to describe someone who does a good deed. It’s unfortunate that you feel like the term is racist. Your opinion on how the term originated was not necessary. Your only trying to start trouble. Every religion has its book and every book tells a different story.
we are not beholden to every dream, fantasy, or maliciously spun folks tale.
ask any ancient history scholar, the key is to differentiate between fact and fiction.
and no, i do not at all buy in to the Hindu stuff, or any other garbage.
for any more clarification ask a Rabbi.
Totally agree!!
yes, the term “good samaritan” comes from the Christian bible and is a story which ostensibly depicts jewish people as leaving a starving man to die, while the non-jewish samaritan goes and saves him.
It has been used historically as a way to paint Jews as cruel and greedy, though admittedly today it is used simply as a term for proper conduct.
That is what the comment meant.
Hint: it’s from a book that Jews don’t use. As is the term “salt of the earth”.
Yes! If you look up the history of the Samaritans you would never say GOOD and Samaritan in the same sentence nor apply that to Jew
Good Samaritans . This is what we worry about these days.. pretty pathetic don’t ya think . The term has been positive for hundreds of years , yet 2024 … we are suddenly sensitive … get a life
Couldn’t have said it better. The term is used for someone that does something to help somebody. Now a days it has nothing to do with a term that was used hundreds and hundreds of years ago.
I am offended that someone thinks the term “Good Samaritan” is bad , in this day we need all the Good Samaritans that are willing to step up and help others in need
Wow! How petty. To take issue with the word “samaritan”. I highly doubt the average person would put any thought into the origins of the word. The word is obviously used to imply that the individual is helpful/ charitable. I highly doubt that it was used purposely to ruffle anybody’s feathers. No need overreact. Choose your battles wisely.
A better term to use is “Tzadik” that would be more appropriate in this forum.
