A fire ripped through a home in Lakewood this morning.
The fire broke out shortly before 8:00 AM at a home next door to the Woodlake Yeshiva on Joe Parker Road, corner of Lanes Mill Road.
The home, which is reportedly used for a teen program, is said to have been vacant at the time the fire broke out.
Upon arrival, firefighters found flames shooting from the upper story of the structure.
The fire was brought under control shortly after LFD‘s arrival on scene. No injuries are being reported.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
Lanes Mill Road Eastbound at Joe Parker is shut.
It’s getting cold, could have been a space heater accident, could be something else.
Either way, remember to not leave space heaters unattended!
If the house was vacant why would a space heater be on ?
took the fire department a while to get there although theres a fire department right across the street. also only three fire trucks showed up instead of the usual fleet. apparently the recent forest fires wore them out a bit. i wonder if the fire started from some bochur smoking there before shacharis as not to get caught by the menahel and didnt end up stamping out his cigarette butt when he was done.
