BREAKING – FIRST REPORT: DOE Commissioner decision upholds Judge’s ruling in Lakewood School District funding case

The Department of Education Commissioner this afternoon issued a decision in regards to the $30,000,000 in grants for the Lakewood School District – which the Department of Education itself had previously determined Lakewood is in need of and entitled to.

The decision upholds the Administrative Law Judge’s decision in regards to the case, which leaves the District in the hands of the political process in the Legislature. As it stands now, the money will remain a loan.

“What else would you expect,” Attorney Inzelbuch stated in response to the decision. “The Commissioner ratified his own actions since he also stated that Lakewood needs grants – not loans – but was compelled to do as dictated by Senate President Sweeney and the legislature. It’s all good. The truth is known. Lakewood needs grants – not loans.”
