VIDEO: Board Of Education President Ada Gonzalez was removed from her position by the state this evening after failing to submit her criminal background check, the Board announced tonight.
Gonzalez, sworn in as incumbent in January, was obligated to submit a background check upon becoming a Board member, but failed to do so, officials said.
In her defense however, an official says she wasn’t aware that she needed to do so, and has since submitted the check, which is now under review.
She was not present at this evening’s meeting, and vice president Menachem Friedman has assumed the position of president until further notice.
The Board this evening is also expected to vote in a replacement for Yoni Silver’s seat, after his resignation earlier this year. The names of those filing for the seat, are Moshe Raitzik, Michael Rush, Angela Caldwell and Tracey Tift.

Didn’t Ms. Gonzalez serve on the BOE several years ago. If she did, then she would have known that she had to submit a criminal background check. There is no excuse for non-compliance of state laws.
I thought Purim was last week.
Its a new LAW that went in to effect recently.
Larry Loigman should run for the BOE. Now that he is done with the LFD. He did a wonderful job with bringing the budget down and eliminating wasteful spending. I think he could do wonders for the BOE.
Any word on who was voted in?
Let her submit any necessary paperwork she has helped so many people over the years.
