I have a better idea for next year. Don’t let the school year END for any girl, until every girl has a school for the following year. No teacher should have vacation. Every principal should not leave the school building after the school year until every girl is placed. I think this would resolve the matter much quicker and girls will know from the start of the summer what their future plans are.
I just want to thank the Roshei Yeshivah for stepping in and making sure that these neshomos were taken care of. I believe this is the first step in Lakewood’s (all of us) teshuva just before Rosh Hashana for past misdeeds with regard to our mosdos.
Great idea!!!!
(moderated)
This is purely more demand than supply which therefore gives the power to the Rosh hamosdos.
As soon as there is more supply than demand, you will see how quickly the schools will accept kids to fill their classes
Did the audio get removed? I wanted to hear it
I have a different idea . No parent can send their kids to camp , no parent can go on any summer vacation, no parent can buy their kids any fancy summer clothes ,no parent can buy any foods that are non necessities or drive a fancy car or buy any house etc etc till all parents get together and first of all pay full tuition to have smaller classes and second of all to raise money to make new high schools .
This is not the teachers fault or the principals fault or the schools fault .They have done ehat they can .
This is all of our fault as parents who just push the blame on the schools for our own shortcomings .
I dont undetstand . There are dozens of boys who have to go to Mesivtas that are on a much lower level ,because the better mesivtas only have one class and have no room. Nobody says a word about that .Yet when a parent holds out so his daughter gets into a better school than the one she got accepted to ,then the whole world goes berserk .Why the difference. These good boys, are crying and suffering mire than the girls .
Yaakov Goldman- if you would realize how your words are so true-( but not in a negative, blaming way the way you meant them… but rather you pretty much summed up the REALITY of the situation!)- you would realize that this is an unsolvable problem until we make more schools!!!
You said that there is “purely more demand than supply” and that is the truth! THERE IS MORE DEMAND THAN SUPPLY!!! There are more girls who need schools than the amount of classroom seats there are. It’s like playing musical chairs with more girls than chairs. We keep sticking in more and more chairs to try to make it work (but in this case it is not a game- the classes are beyond overcrowded!) but there will never be a seat per student. Basically we “solved” the problem today by getting every girl into a school- but on whose cheshbon? Probably the roshei mosdos who had the biggest hearts or least stubbornness gave in and took girls who really don’t have room in the classrooms.
You would have a “taynah” if classes would start and there would be empty seats, and the schools would STILL refuse to take the girls who have no school, but that is not the case. Then everybody would be able to bash the schools. But here you’re blaming the heads of schools for the reality of there NOT BEING ENOUGH SCHOOLS. I wish people would realize that! Heads of schools are entitled to fill their first slots with siblings or donor’s children, or people they “owe” it to…. and then they fill up the rest. But there will be girls leftover no matter who would have taken those first slots.
So stop bashing the schools who are not at fault. And go open a school so there should be enough seats. That’s the only solution.
@N8 awesome idea!
Most new schools don’t last, nobody wants to go to a new school that might close so they usually end up closing. I think the only way it could work is if a few more of the elementary schools start high schools.
Are there any cases that back up this claim of people refusing new schools?
@N8 Genius!!!
I know someone who still did not get into high school. I will confirm when she does im”h
Is she on the Vaad’s list?
My daughter still is not in high school. How canyou post such sheker so close to yom kippur?
I’m confused, I know personally of a girl who is still not in a high school!! and I heard there’s at least one other girl also not in, so how are they saying that everyone is in, and starting school tomorrow????? Do these girls lives not count for some reason??? It’s mamash a Busha!!!
When you refuse to work with the vaad, when you insist you won’t put a filter in your internet, and insist on coming to the interview with your daughter wearing no jacket, then the vaad no longer has an achrayos to place your daughter. When you owe 5 years of reduced tuition to the elementary school, there is no achrayos for a school to accept you. When you are the president of the kiddush club in your shul, don’t daven but talk ther while time, the community has no achrayos. It’s sad that children are punished for the crimes of their parents, but when schools are full to capacity and beyond, the ones that conform, will be chosen first.
When in Rome do as the Romans.
Easy on the judgement!
COMPLETE LIE CAUSE MY DAUGHTER IS NOT IN SCHOOL!
So if someone doesn’t do what the vaad wants your kid won’t get into school?
sounds crazy.
They are the ones helping you out and they are entitled to set conditions and rules like applying to certain amount of schools etc…Feel free not to listen and deal with the repercussions!
Why?
Not all girls have gotten into high school at least 3 remain unplaced. Let’s not make up stories.
Perhaps if we stop referring to our children as Neshamos and call them little boy, young girls etc. people would be more empethatic. With everyone calling our children Neshamos it’s like there is no feeling or physical pain as they are purely spiritual beings.
Wake up everyone! Our children are people, with real live feelings, they process love and hate, acceptance and rejection, peace and strife just like we do.
Just wondering, any reason Oros went against the Roshai Yeshiva and had school today? And then people trust them with the chinuch of their children??
Thats ridiculous!!!
No filter on internet is equal to not wearing a jacket? Lol
Filter on the internet or filter on your mouth?
Not true! My daughter has no school yet!
No jacket equals no school?!?!?! Really?!? That’s so sad
“Every girl needs a school, every Yeshiva needs a boy”
So true!!
if the parents don’t follow certain guidelines then the schools have every right in the world not to accept your daughter! We live in a society where altz kumt mir! Learn to sacrifice a little for the chinnuch of your children!
@Krechtzing – I hope you are never in a position to be humbled and have to eat your words. Please think before you judge and post.
To lkwd resident – how is it your fault if you live simply, yet still cannot afford to pay tuition? If someone is unfortunately not earning enough, that’s hard enough. Is it ok that their daughter should suffer? We are a nation of rachmanim!!
For those parents of kids not in school yet, can you share what the issue is? How many schools have you applied to? Where you accepted in any? Have you worked with the vaad? What had the vaad done for you or suggested for you? What is the reason you’re being told your daughter is being rejected?
Instead of just bashing in public, share your whole story.
It might help you get sympathy and maybe someone will take action.
Lkwdresident you need to stop living in your dark fantisy world. You have pubicly committed motzei shaim ra. You do not know of the history and are trying to blame the parents. How about you meet us
Parents in bais din and daas torah decides how much money you owe us for the pain you caused.
Move out of Lakewood!!! I cannot understand why you want to live in a city like this? Reb AAron I’m sure is crying for all the pain being caused to the future generations.. there is a whole world outside of Lakewood without this whole school issues the world doesn’t begin and end with zip code 08701 open your horizons check it out the rest of the world
It’s almost a shame that so many slots are given based on older sisters attending or parent contributions instead of whether a particular school is really a good fit for a girl’s specific needs.
I understand the convenience of knowing the teachers and only using one bus for multiple sisters. But the fact is that what’s best for a parent is not always what’s best for a girl or the community.
The bigger shame is that a class of 40 girls will not allow any of them to receive a proper education at the cost of one girl’s placement. The town, or the Vaad, needs to enforce a rule that no new schools take on children unless they’ve created a sister high school to guarantee placement for everyone.
There is no one authority running Lakewood. Each man to his own does not work. U cant have a community like this.
As of 9:30 AM Tuesday morning I know of at least 2 girls, one who is a relative who is not in a 9th grade class yet.
From which elementary schools do you know these 2 girls ?
For all those who are playing g-d and think they know all the answers.
I give a Brocha that u should never feel the pain that we feel right now.
That ur children boys and girls should get into the school that you would want ur children to go to and that ur children with grow and succeed. If hashem didnt bless you with children yet. I give u a brocha that u have beautiful children that their neshamos should be beautiful and their guff as well.
As for parnassah…you should never have to worry about how u r going to pay the next bill. For food. Clothing. Or even tuition.
That u should make the right decisions in life like weather to wear a jacket when u mow the lawn or wear ur tzizus out because chas vshalom what would my neighbor think.
And if u work then your boss should never find out how you dont think before u speak or text for u dont have not even an ounce of love for ur fellow jew.
Good Luck with everything u do just think . I guarantee you will be a happier person…inside and out
si your remark is callous. maybe we feel honored to live in lakewood in spite of its problems. we would rather stay and fight for decency than run and hide as you suggest. How about you move out of lakewood and leave us eidela yidden alone. By the way some of us have lived out of town and prefer lakewood.
#2.) i was answering 14 not 27. do not know why my post was so delayed.
