PHOTOS: Mendel celebrated his Bar Mitzvah this past Shabbos, at the Robert Wood Johnson Hospital. But thanks to Bikur Cholim of Lakewood and and its volunteers, the boys had a catered and nearly normal Bar Mitzvah.
After receiving a call from the parent about the upcoming Bar Mitzvah, Bikur Cholim took on the task, though they weren’t sure how they’d pull it off.
But R’ Mordechai Schwartz, a Bikur Cholim volunteer, thought of a plan.
Owning a coach bus converted into a mobile take-out, R’ Mordechai figured he’ll make good use of it.
And so Erev Shabbos, the bus pulled up at the New Brusnwick Hospital, loaded with catered food – enough for all the guests.
“The family could not believe how despite the circumstances, what a beautiful Bar Mitzvah it turned out to be”, says a Bikur Cholim coordinator. TLS.
