who are they kidding???
as usual we are finding the other side of the story.
Item 1 – May I ask where is Page 2 of the letter. Seems the PDF has only 2 pages (1 & 3) with a lot left out. Please post the entire letter.
Item 2 – On the last page (8.) it states “As this was a privately held enterprise they are fee to do as they please with their furniture.” May I question the word “fee”? Do they charge a “fee” for the children to use the furniture? Was this letter written by a “learned” Lakewood Board of Education member?
My child was denied an evaluation with no explanation given. 2 private therapists and one public hospital both diagnosed that he needs 2 years of ot. The district wouldn’t even EVALUATE him! Let alone offer services
What a joke. Tell the BOE super, we trust Zeeva 10 x more than we trust him.
To whom it may concern
I would like to tell you that my child is enrolled with the Mekor Hachinuch program. my yearly tuition bill is a little over 7000.00 dollars a year. As of last year we were denied services in speech and OT, plus we are entitled for soical services for behavioral issues in which they say there short funded and stopped the services as well As of today addition to what i pay Mekor, out of pocket expense is 500.00 a month, bringing my total to close to 1100.00 a month. I have BH other tuitions to pay as well. I am not writing this letter for any sympathy or for some wise guy to tear apart my letter nor am i looking for hand outs, BUT something is not right ….The whole fight with Catapult verse Tree of life, in my eyes was (moderated) i knew from the beginning my child education was not the main issue. Its embarrassing in my humble opinion, that we lack the infrastructure in this town where the population of kids are on the rise to have a descent system to help kids with learning availabilities. And for the record Mekor said they cant guarantee there will be a class for my child due to the high expense and stain on parents and the school system ( Lack of classroom space). to sugar coat it they say the reason is to mainstream the kids, but when you talk to the teacher ( and therapist ) they tell you privately its a 100 percent failure…..I Daven everyday that want my Kid to get married and lead a happy life, i am not looking for them to be the next Rosh Hashiva, but the main battle i have each day is to try t instill in my child to feel good about themselves….and that is getting harder when they lack the system to help them flourish to there potential
Why was the whole PDF not posted?, page 2 left out
The new members have not touched any public school issues. They are focusing on the parts of the budget affecting the private school community only.
to the the Lakewood scoop
whats the matter the truth hurts? did i offend anyone???
mrs krieger is kulo lishiem shomayim. she has nothing to gain by putting her name out there. all this defence by yhe beo makes them look pathetic
If you’re going to bash the superintendent, at least do enough research to know she is a woman.
How does anyone know who was involved in the letter? Did all those people sign this letter?
What a (moderated)!! They feel the need to defend themselves because they’ve been exposed! There are many children here in town who have been denied special education and suffering all year from it. Its UNFORGIVEABLE!!!
Many children have been offered spots and declined them because they don’t want their kids in public school. Am I wrong? They have been offered special education with services at the public preschool. It seems that some parents feel their children are too good to be in school with public school students, and are denying their own children services because of it.
If not for mrs krieger my child would still be sufferring at home! She is the only one who cares about the children. Thank you mrs k!
Here’s your first assignment.
According to the Lakewood BOE’s own figures, there were 3,324 children with disabilities enrolled in our mosdos as of 10/15/09. Yet only 11.28 percent, yes, only 375 out of the 3,324 will receive any therapies for their disabilities. These numbers come from the BOE’s application to the State, available online (at http://206.230.234.37/NJDOEGmsWeb/ApplicationShell.aspx?DisplayName=Proportionate%20Share ). Feel free to check it out for yourselves. Since then the unmet needs gap has only deepened. This is a direct result of the cutbacks Mrs Krieger is complaining about.
We really hope that you will quickly address this huge unmet need, now that the principals’ endorsement has won you your positions.
Throwing money to waste at the public school but cutting back on special education is something that should raise eyebrows!
to #16- how is it a waste to give money to public schools. This probably will not get posted because it’s the truth but spending 21 million dollars in busing on a budget of 70 million dollars is a total waste. Wake up before your taxes are out of control
I am very pleased that the scoop is fair. I never thought my above comment would be posted, Thank you TLS
To #15 “Congratulations New Board Members”: If the data you report is true and in 09 there were 3,324 children from our Mosdos that has special needs, this tells me that we either need to check the drinking water or this program is out of control! Special Education is not designed nor meant to supplement the inefficiencies in our education system nor for providing employment for every Seminary girl that got an OT degree from Reb Bulka. It is designed for children with real Special Educational needs… I refuse to believe that the number of those children exceeds 3,000.
i also thank you for posting a lakewood residents comments
“This letter was drafted with the input of all the District employees involved in special education…”
Is a quote from your article above. I know for a fact that this is an incorrect statement. If would be correct if it stated that “some” not “all”.
Please report responsibly!!
…still waiting for the entire 2nd page of this 3 page document. It doesn’t lend credibility to anyone to put partial information out there. TLS, if you are trying to prove a point by posting this reply, then post the entire thing. If left to my imagination, I would imagine that the page that was left out doesn’t agree with your narrative.
