Bodycam Footage Shows Neighbors, Lakewood Police Officers Rescuing Victim From Burning Home [Viewer Discretion Advised]

Bodycam footage obtained by TLS shows Lakewood police officers and neighbors rescuing a victim from a structure fire earlier this month.

On May 4th, at approximately 1:20 AM, Lakewood Police Department, Lakewood Twp EMS, and Lakewood Fire Department were dispatched for a structure fire on Joe Parker Rd. Upon arrival, officers found a residential home engulfed in flames.

Officers were informed by the residents of the home that one person was possibly still inside. Officers, along with civilians, broke through the garage door, and through a wall, and an officer was able to remove the victim.

The victim was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune for treatment.

The officer who rescued the victim was transported to Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus in Lakewood, where he was treated for smoke inhalation and then released.

The Ocean County Prosecutor’s office has since revealed in a statement that the fire was deemed accidental and was caused by discarded smoking materials.
