I think the smile is the most newsworthy part of the story. If you read his wikipedia entry you can see that he is known as a politician who rarely smiles.

He is being chapperoned by Moshe Tress, a grandson of the famous Mike Tress, who rubbed shoulders with Presidents & Senators when Yidden were in trouble during the war.
Apparently it’s in their Genes & good for them.
