Bill Which Would Allow Wine To Be Shipped Directly To Consumers To Be Heard This Week

A bill which would allow wine drinkers to have the beverage shipped directly to their doors in New Jersey, will be heard this week by the Assembly Budget Committee. The bill, sponsored by John Burzichelli and Celeste Riley (both D-Gloucester/Salem/Cumberland) and John Wisniewski (D-Middlesex), will remove the ban which currently only allows wine to be shipped to a retail wine outlet.

Currently, about 38 States allow for wine to be shipped directly to customers.

The bill faces opposition from retailers who fear it would hurt their business and make it easier for under age drinkers to buy wine online.

The hearing will be taking place on Thursday. TLS.
