Bike 4 Chai Opens 2013 Registration

Just five months after 200 cyclists comppleted a 150 mile bike tour for Chai Lifeline’s 4th annual Bike 4 Chai fundraiser, registration has opened for the 2013 Bike 4 Chai tour.

With an all-new website, Bike 4 Chai says they’re excited for the 2013 adventure.

“We’re looking forward to 2013 being the best year ever”, says MSW, NJ Regional Director Rabbi Sruly Fried.

In 2009, one biker – Dovid Egert – who enjoyed long bike rides made the trip to the camp in attempt to raise money for the camp, and raised $10,000 for the cause. But then, it went viral.

“It’s amazing how it became a National event with riders from as far as Canada and Israel joining”, Fried says.

In 2010, Bike 4 Chai raised $200,000, with 40 riders.

In 2011, with 150 riders, the non-profit organization raised a whopping $550,000.

Last year, the organization is aimed for $1,000,000 with 200 riders, and brought in over $1.7 million.

This year’s event will cap the amount of riders at 300, Fried says.

The 150 mile and 2 day trip will kick off this year on July 31, 2013.

  1. Wow! Who can imagine that Dovid Egert bike rode to Camp Simcha for enjoyment and to raise money for this cause and it turned into a National Event raising over $1,000,000.00? Keep up the good work Dovid Egert
