    • You can send yourself another code and reclaim your account but you have to do it quick before they also change the phone number.

(As an aside, the helpful message “do not share it with anyone” is there for precisely this reason.)

      • i accidentally opened the pdf in an email
name was shaina jones, and said it was a receipt, the jewish sounding name threw me off, and only when i saw it was a random charge did i realise it is probably spam!
question is, how to i know if my device is now infected??
        does anyone have info? ty

  1. It’s someone trying to get access to your wattsapp position. If you did not give them the code, you should be fine as far as I know. If you did give them the code I would suggest reaching out to wattsapp right away to see if you can restore your access

  2. WhatsApp is treif. As Rabbi Krohn said it is a WMD of Lashon Hora. So I don’t have it. And therefore I am not susceptible to this hack

    • False. It is not a keiki of loshon horror. It is ONLY so, if you choose to use it so. It can also be used for harbotzas hatorah. So the choice is the owner of the account. In a certain respect, SMOKING is worse , as it has NO positive usage…ALL NEGATIVE! Yet many, even bnai torah, don’t see any issue with SMOKING— although it clearly states “ושמרתם את נפשותיכם” — and no one says a word about it!

      • To ploni almoni.
Maybe you can explain what exactly, or better, WHAT IS the problem with texting– UNLESS you have nothing better to do than spew loshon horoh! But is your bechirah, just like anything else! There are many good maalos of texting over speaking to a person.

  3. Ploni, your haughtiness is even worse. The hack can come in many different ways and formats, it can even come via a simple text message

    • Texting is Oichet a treife zach. Mein Zaida hot dos Kein Mmohl Niht Getohn. Ich bin nisht Kein baal gaavah. Ich bin nohr a baal emes. 🙂
