Betzalel-Goodman-ChessLast night, Batzalel Goodman of All The Way Towing, again won the annual Blindfolded Chess Tournament. [VIDEO of ’09 tournament ]. A brilliant chess player, Betzalel played by just memorizing the layout of the board and sat with his back facing the game, while he had someone move the pieces for him. The other players, played facing the board. Betzalel won 5 of 6 games. The game he lost, was played against two players, and assisted by the audience.

In January, Betzalel played Chess against four individual players, simultaneously – by just writing down his moves – in front of a crowd at the Lakewood Courtyard, winning all four games. Click here for video.

  1. I was there and saw the games it was amazing to watch. I saw the two M boys win with no help from the audience but according to people at the scene that was no chidush since the Shlomo and Motty M were given lessons by Betzalel as kids.

  2. I took lessons when I was a kid & let me tell you that it’s really an amazing talent to play chess by memory , even good chess players can’t do it . Maybe one time I’ll get a chance to play Betzalel .
