Beitar Woman Loses Leg in Sudden Amputation

[COMMUNICATED] Last month, a shocking diagnosis changed the lives of Talya Levinger and her young family. After complaining of leg pain, tests revealed that she had a severe infection in her leg. Less than a week later, doctors were forced to amputate the leg.

The month following has been a time of trauma for the Levinger family. Having barely had time to adjust to being a wheelchair-bound amputee, Talya is struggling to take care of her two small children. A prosthetic leg, combined with physical therapy, could mean that she could walk again one day. The price of the equipment and treatments, however, is far more than the family can afford.

Mr. Levinger has reportedly left his job to manage the home. Due to their home not being wheelchair-accessible, Talya’s movement his highly restricted: She cannot access the restroom, move through the hallways, or use the stairs. Making their home accessible to her, however, is also out of their budget.

Talya seems to long, above all else, to return to the “normal” she had just one month ago: To be able to take her children to the park, to be able to cook with ease. An emergency fund has been started with the goal of giving this young and traumatized family hope for the future during this dark time. If the campaign is successful, Talya could fulfill her dream of walking again.
