As of today, May 2, 2023, masks will no longer be required at RWJBarnabas Health facilities.
In a letter obtained by TLS, it stated, “In response to the stabilization of key virus benchmarks, we have responsibly revised several COVID-19 measures across RWIBarnabas Health. As we navigate a new phase of the pandemic, we are optimistic and encouraged by the significant decrease in the proportion of COVID-19 positive patients who require hospitalization, tools we now have to treat the virus and immunity rates that have resulted from vaccination and/or prior infection.
“As we continue to move forward, beginning Tuesday, May 2, masking will be optional in all RWJBarnabas Health facilities for patients, visitors, staff and providers.”
Masking may still be required for certain patients on standard infection prevention protocols, and/or on units responsible for the care of vulnerable patients at the determination of each site.
Masks will continue to be available to patients, visitors, staff and providers in the facilities.
As if masks were safe or effective.
But compared to the vax, innocuous.
