The end of daylight savings doesn’t mean the end to pedestrian traffic in Lakewood. With the longer Winter nights now beginning, motorists and pedestrians are urged to stay alert and pay attention to each other on the road.
The best way to ensure you are visible to drivers is to wear a reflector, even if it’s ‘just a block or two’.
There have been numerous accidents involving pedestrians in Lakewood during last Winter, and some of these accidents could be avoided by taking simple precautions, such as by wearing a reflector.
There is a limited supply of free reflectors available at the Lakewood Township Municipal building. They can be picked up at the office of Mr. Yehuda Abraham, located on the second floor.

Which building is that in?
Municipal Building
231 Third Street
Lakewood, NJ 08701
Don’t forget the crossing guards. A lite stick isn’t cutting it. The need to be lit up with some better equipment.
The Police Department Building
Who paid for these reflectors ? Hope it wasn’t my tax money!
It’s called a Lakewoodonian not a Lakewooder!
Every time something happens people talk about reflectors. I think what really has to be addressed is the way people walk in the streets.
Yes, why do people walk in the streets instead of the sidewalks?always saying need more sidewalks, but don’t seem to use them. Could someone explain the reason for walking on the streets. I don’t drive my car on sidewalk ,
I too see many walking in the street when a perfectly good sidewalk is right next to them. Sidewalks were put in for safety and many still walk in the street and putting yourself and drivers in danger. Also, many drivers don’t stop at the stop sign but stop past the stop sign. Please be respectful and follow the law.
its very nice that the township gives out free reflectors however it doesnt cost alot to buy one if their supply runs out. Its a matter for you walking and the drivers. Also, yes the sidewalks are for walking so why do so many of you walk in the street?
