Basketball Game Between Off-Duty Officers and Public School Teachers to Raise Funds for Charity

Off-duty Lakewood Police Officers of the Local P.B.A. Local No. 71 will take on the Lakewood Board of Education Teachers Union this coming weekend in a charity Basketball game.

The event, “Hoops for Hope”, will help raise funds for Hurricane Sandy Relief projects throughout the area, and local food banks.

The game will be held at 6 PM this Friday evening, January 11, at the Lakewood High School gymnasium, 855 Somerset Avenue.

“I hear the Teachers Association are going to “stomp” us on Friday, I think Friday night, we will be the teachers and they’re gonna be taken to school!”, says Local 71 President Gary Przewoznik.

Przewoznik adds, “Though the Jewish community won’t be able to attend the game due to Shabbos, whatever support we can get from the rest of the community, is greatly appreciated.”

Entry to the game is $1 per person, or a non-perishable food item. Children under 5 are free.

  1. I hope Officers La Rosa and Guzman are playing! They are the best school officers ever! Oh, and the officer who loves the NY Giants, I think his name is McGee, he’s pretty tall and looks like he could play some ball! Great Job LPD again! Maybe one day when I graduate, I can join your ranks

  2. Oh well. I wish this game would be any other day of the week, so that we could attend. My religion doesn’t allow me to drive to the game Friday night and Saturday. GOOD LUCK guys!!!
