It’s with much regret we report about the Petirah of Hagaon Harav Chaim Yisroel Belsky Zatzal.
The Rosh Yeshivah of Torah Vodaath in New York, and leading Posek, was Niftar moments ago. He was 78.
During the dinner on Sunday in Lakewood, his son-in-law, R’ Shlomo Yehuda Rechnitz described how the Rosh Yeshivah was suffering from immense Yesurim.

Further details will be published when available.

We lost a gadol that didn’t live for the public opinion. He stood with a gevura for what was right. Didn’t fear anyone but hashem. A goan oilam mi yiten lonu temuraso.
When i was a young teenager, i was not in yeshiva and no yeshiva would take me. rabbi belsky who hardly knew me agreed to meet with me and then called and cajoled a yeshiva in to taking me. I am forever indebted.
Baruch Dayan Haemes, a rare Gadol. What a loss.

In aveilus posted at 8:07 pm…So true. You couldn’t have said it better. He stood for truth, yasherus and yiras Hash-m, even if doing so caused him great personal inconvenience (to say the least). It is one of many beautiful legacies he leaves for us. The loss is profound. Yehi Zichro Baruch.
A giant! a real torah giant.

Do you know if there is a bus leaving to the levaya tomorrow morning?
I remember as a youth in Camp Agudah, when there was “Group Shiur,” R’ Belsky would ask us what we would like the Shiur to be on. We would try to pick the most abstract topics & without fail R’ Belskey would weave an hour and a halfs worth of interesting Shiur on that topic.
Any information about parking?
We lost a giant a true gadol B’yisroel and a true posek of the previous generation that didn’t live for what the public opinion was or for the popular opinion . He stood with gevura for what was right and didn’t fear anyone but hashem. A goan oilam
mi yiten lonu temuraso.
