It is with much regret we report the Petirah of Rabbi Meir Hertz Z”L.
Rabbi Hertz Z”L was the Meyased and Rosh Mossad of Tashbar Lakewood, and also brought HUD to Lakewood, facilitating affordable housing to thousands of Yungerleit and Lakewood families.
Reb Meir was also involved with other major initiatives to bring funding to Lakewood families and Mosdos.
He was 75.
He leaves behind his wife, Chani, and his sons R’ Avrohom Mordechai, R’ Yitzchok, R’ Dovid Yosef, R’ Chaim, R’ Yechezkel, Rebbetzin Gitty Eisenberg, Mrs. Rivky Birnbaum, Mrs. Matti Marcus, Mrs. Tzippy Colton, Mrs. Hadassah Glantz, his brother R’ Baruch Hertz, and his sister Mrs. Rachel Lazarowitz.
The Levaya is scheduled to take place at 3:00 PM at the Tashbar school on Oak Street, with Kevurah in Beit Shemesh.

Rabbi Meir Hertz
זכר צדיק לברכה
he helped many many people personally and not looking for honor. No one has any clue how much Chessed he did privately to help many different families. He would never bragg about his Chessed.
Rabbi Hertz was a servant of the kehilla of the highest calibre. In 2011 and 2012 I often met with him brainstorming ideas how to make the district better serve the kids. He showed me many sources of DOE information that I did not know of before. He will surely be missed. He had all the children of Lakewood at heart.
there is no way to properly express the hakaras hatov and to correctly reflect on the massive contribution which the niftar has given this town and perhaps it is better left unspoken but let it suffice to say that having the levaya in the school that he built as a testimony of his influence on the chinuch of this town while that is true it is also an understatement of the full scope of his accomplishment for Lakewood’s yungerleit.
Rabbi M. Hertz was instrumental in my personal crisis back in 1982, as an advocate at a lower east side beit Din for a get. He was extremely kind and bright in negotiating terms. I worked at the ltrap office for him as a programmer, where he treated me well His wife is a humble Tzadekes who advised me wisely. May his Neshama have a high ranking place of peace.
He was a pillar of Lakewood that helped many thousands of families with his forsight. One of the greatest machzikei torah of our time. Thank you R’ Meir, from a former beneficiary.
While we personally made the choice not go go on assistance , my wife had a job in one his offices for a while , a number years ago.
I will never forget the incredible interview that he gave on the David Lichtenstein show with ideas for how the Yeshivas can come together to make sure that every boy has a school.
We are forever grateful !
Long Time Shadchan
I received the call this morning that my mentor of 38 years has been called home. He hired me at 18 at LTRAP, and then sent me to the LHA. Where I worked for 9 years. Although I left and went to the Inspector Dept, I still was there for LTRAP when he called. I returned 13 yrs ago, and we never missed a beat. He called himself my “Jewish father” because he always guided me to be better.
Rabbi Meir Hertz was a lot of things in the public’s eye, but to me he was not just my boss, but he was truly my Friend, and I will truly miss him. To Chani and the family whom I have many memories I send my condolences and prayers. He shall forever be a part of who I am and my children whom also worked for him at LTRAP.
Is there a person (outside the Roshei Yeshiva & Mashgiach ZL) that we can say carried the responsibility of more yungerlite and tashbar on his shoulders? Big part of making Lakewood what it is today. Huge loss,
Is there a replay of the levaya
Sadly the scoop censored my comment and didn’t publish it.

R.i.P.
Many years and memories dear friend.
He was also a genuine talmid chochom and was a Rosh Yeshiva at Ohr Somayach in its first days in USA. Even before he started Lakewood Tenants Organization, which helped countless bnei Torah, he established Parnassah for many Kolel wives with a program to have them produce jewelry at home.
