BARUCH DAYAN HA’EMES: Hagaon Harav Dovid Feinstein Zatzal [UPDATED – LEVAYA LIVE STREAM]

The Torah world today is mourning the loss of one of the greatest leaders in the generation, Hagaon Harav Dovid Feinstein Zatzal.

Agudah released the following statement:

Agudath Israel of America is devastated at the loss today of one of the great Torah leaders of our generation, Rabbi Dovid Feinstein, ZT”L. Rabbi Feinstein was Rosh HaYeshiva of the Mesivtha Tifereth Jerusalem yeshiva in Manhattan’s East Side and a member of the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah of Agudath Israel for decades. He was known for his Torah knowledge, his sagely guidance, and his communal leadership in times of uncertainty.

“There are no words. We are reeling,” said Rabbi Chaim Dovid Zwiebel, executive vice president of Agudath Israel. “Rabbi Feinstein was a true manhig hador, leader of our generation, and posek hador, halachic authority for the generation. The entire Jewish world has suffered a terrible blow with his death.”

UPDATE: The Levaya is set to take place at 9:30 AM outside the MTJ Yeshiva, 145 East Broadway, New York, New York, 10002. The Kevurah will take place in Eretz Yisroel.

  1. The family requests that people watch the live stream instead of attending in person. Those who attend in person must wear a mask social distance at all times.

  2. I received in an email that the family is asking people to not come to the levaya and instead participate via hookup (or phone?), and to wear masks if attending. Why are no news sites reporting this?

“Official announcement from family: in light of the current situation, the levaya will be live-streamed on multiple platforms, and it will be a greater kavod hameis and kiddush Hashem if people participate in that way. Anyone participating in person must wear a mask and practice social distancing at all times, and are encouraged to use mass transit for there will be very limited parking…”
