Baruch Dayan Ha’emes: We regret to inform you of the Petirah of Reb Chatzkel Friedman Z”L, who was Niftar this morning at the age of 74. Reb Nosson Yechezkel Ben Reb Menachem MendelZ’L, who has no family, was a Yerushalmi Yid who used to come by BMG in his wheelchair and sell his engravings. He was a Talmid Chochom and Ba’al Yesurim who came to Brooklyn approximately 30 years ago and stayed in Bais Hatalmud with Reb Chaim Visoker. For the past 5 years, every morning, he would attend the Daf Yomi Shiur of Reb Eliezer Ralbag Shlita and was on his 3rd time through Shas.
He always spoke about his brother who was Niftar young and was Farhert on Shas by Reb Velvele from Brisk at the age of 18 on shas, and got S’micha from the Tchebiner Rov at the same age.
A close friend of his said “He had a Yerushalaimer smile and positive attitude on his face”.
He was Niftar this morning at Leisure Chateau where he has been for the last few months.
The Levaya will be taking place this afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the 7th Street Chapel.
After the Levaya in Lakewood, he will have a Levaya at 5:00 p.m. at Shomrei Hachomos, before being flown to Eretz Yisroel via JFK.

about 3.5 years ago i went with my wife to the lakewood courtyard to visit the elderly. We met the manager, we asked him if there is anybody that we can be mechazik so he led us to R’ Chatzkel Friedmans room. We spent some time together he asked wether we had any kids we said no, he bentsched us with a baby boy, a year later hashem gave us a lechtiga yingele. yehey zichro boruch! ,ay he be meletz osher for gantz klal yisroel.
wow! i was put to tears by that story, sometimes we don’t realize the zechusim a person has especially someone who suffers from the fact that he himself has no children, that gives him the koach to be mevorach someone else for that, it shows his great ayin tova too, maybe that was somewhat of a kiyum for him in having to do with the bringing of a child to this world.
