(AUDIO message from school obtained by TLS, and Letter from parent, below) Dear TLS, I’m not sure if people have heard or not, but Bais Yaakov Elementary School has closed down and will not reopen. At first we thought that the school will remain open at least until the end of this school year, but today a message was sent to the parents and staff that the school will not reopen. Does anybody have a solution to so many girls’ problem? No school is willing to accept the girls. Each school has another excuse. What are these girls and their parents to do?
Bais Yaakov was an amazing school with an excellent faculty and a friendly parent body. The school had a great education and focused on middos, too. It’s a loss for Lakewood that the school has closed down. It’s a shame that more parents did not know what a wonderful school it was and send their daughters there. I am not attempting to eulogize the school now. I am just stating the facts.
My point of this letter is to make people aware of the fact that Bais Yaakov Elementary School is no more and there are over 50 girls (I am unsure of the exact number) without a school.

The following is the audio message from the school: In accordance to a court order, Bais Yaakov Elementary school will be closing. All parents are advised to please place their children in another school, and the teachers are advised to seek other employment. We would like to thank the teachers for their tremendous Mesiras Nefesh to the school and to the children as well. And the same applies to all the parents who stood by the school in all its trying times. Thank you very much.

BIG DEAL
Since the lakewood kehela for some reason or another does not want Bais Yaakov Elem ‘s girls in their classrooms , I have a suggestion each and every parent of a different school should give a donation of $1000. + and with that money we would be able to start building up a new school. This way ‘our children’ won’t have to cram in with your childrens classrooms. I know this is temparary but its a start. and hey you never know this may turn into something big!
Maybe it will help the last donor start supporting again if he feels he has parent backing
To all the BYE parents. Keep your heads up and keep your phone calls coming to all of the local schools. There is one mossad who has ample space to take you in. It is just going to take time, patience and perseverance until the owner folds and allows you to come. Keep asking the Roshei Yeshiva and askanim for help. Although they may say, sorry I can’t help, it is also their agenda to get you into this empty but viable school. Good luck.
Clearly by doing things not the Torah way – taking Sarah out of the ohel and having her do the man’s job in the same spirit of Paroh’s torture – is coming back to haunt us. Families can’t afford to pay tuition, so schools can’t afford to stay open. And other communities are getting tired of funding Lakewood as they watch the needs of their members rise in these challenging times.
WHERE IS THERE AN EMPTY SCHOOL IN lAKEWOOD ?
In answer to #6, the askanim, the Roshei Yeshiva, all the school owners, and some parents know which school is empty. Yes, there is a place with only half full classrooms. TLS unfortunately cannot name the place, but some BYE parents know which school it is.
i want to preface by stating that I have no idea which school you refer to . But you seem to be saying that this school become the new BYE by incorporating all or most of the BYE kids . If this were your school and you knew that by doing that ,you might share the same fate as BYE in the not so distandt future ,would you do it ?
Why cant TLS name the school ? How are BYEparents supposed to apply if they dont know which school has place for them ? Please explain
I have spoken to some BYE parents and they know which school I am referring to. If you are a BYE parent who is not in the know, ask ANY askan involved in schools and they will (hopefully) fill you in.
In answer to #8, there were a LOT of politics with the direction the owner chose to take this school in terms of hashkafos. He appears to be self sufficient financially, self funding a partially empty school, and there are more left wing expectations, for Lakewood standards. However, you are correct in that the school won’t accept BYE students because of the fear of being stigmatized.
What exactly is so wrong with BYE students? You are part of the problem of why the school never succeeded. Lakewood needed this school to fill the void of “I’m NOT better than you”. You all have this dillusional idea that these people were not as frum as you. Well, you are dead wrong and unless the other schools start accepting these wonderful girls, you WILL be responsible if they go off the derech. Do you think they are stupid? They know they are not accepted anywhere because of your stupid stigmas.
Please dont get bent out of shape . Nobody said anything about anything being wrong with BYE students . We were just explaining why possiblt the other school did not want to find himself in the same position of having to close down next year . Nobody is defending any attitudes ,but the fact is that this schoolowner is not mechoyav to commit suicide forhis school . If there is any tayno it is on the community for creating the stigma but not on the schoolowner who just responds to the facts out there . Its not his fault .
