[VIDEO BELOW] One Bachur was critically injured and others moderately in an accident in Brick early this morning. 

Thr accident occurred around 1am at the intersection of Route 70 and Chambersbridge Rd.

According to police, the silver Durango was traveling north on Chambersbridge Road approaching the intersection with Route 70, and the black Altima (with the Bachurim) was traveling west on Route 70 approaching the intersection with Chambersbridge Road. The traffic signal was green for vehicles traveling on Route 70.

The Durango failed to observe the red traffic signal and proceeded into the intersection, slamming into the Bachurim as it was proceeding west through the intersection. The force of the crash caused the vehicle to roll several times before coming to final rest in a grass area near the northwest corner of the intersection.

Patrol Units from the Brick Township Police Department responded to the scene, along with the Brick Township Police Department’s Emergency Medical Services, Toms River First Aid and MONOC Paramedics. Station 21 and 22 Fire Companies responded to the scene.

The Bachurim were treated at the scene for their injuries and transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, NJ. The Driver of the other vehicle was transported to Ocean Medical Center, Brick, NJ.

Ptl. Lampiasi and Ptl. Donnelly of the Brick Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit responded to the scene to conduct the investigation. Det. Anthony Paciulli of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, Vehicular Homicide Unit responded to the scene to assist. Det. Lash 157 of the Brick Township Police Department’s, Criminal Investigation Unit, responded to photograph and process the scene.

Vehicular traffic was diverted around the scene for approximately two hours during the investigation.

An ongoing investigation is being conducted by Ptl. Donnelly of the Brick Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit.

One Bachur is undergoing emergency surgery for some serious internal injuries.
