FIRST REPORT: A Bachur walking on Ocean Avenue early this morning was assaulted and robbed, TLS has learned. The Bachur, 20, was walking in the Clover Street area approximately 1:00 a.m. when he was approached by two black males and one black female, according to Lakewood Police Detective Lieutenant William Addison. The Bachur was punched and knocked to the ground by one of the males, while the other male pinned him to the ground and proceeded to rob him, Addison said. The three then fled and left the Bachur lying on the ground, with a broken jaw.
The Bachur then got up and managed to walk over to Police Headquarters where he reported the incident.
Police immediately dispatched K-9 Units to the scene of the attack, where they were able to trace a scent.
After some time, one black male, the one who pinned down the Bachur, exited a home in the area, and was identified by the victim.
He was subsequently arrested and taken into Police custody. Bail was set at $20,000 for the attacker.
The other two have not yet been identified.
why was a 20 year old walking alone at 1:00 am on Ocean Ave?
anyplace, anytime without any worries. And he should be able to also.
Because it is his right to.
right to do so but should be smarter than that.
There is no reason this בחור (any בחור) should be up at 1:00

Did he at leasymt get some punches in??
C’mon guys;right or no right, you don’t walk in Harlem at 1 AM! In fact these days Harlem may just be safer than Ocean and Clover at 1 AM.
Thank you LPD for the swift response. If they got one, they’ll get the others real soon.
Why does it say on my computer “your comment is awaiting moderation?” I did not write that comment.
Maybe the bachur doesn’t live in Lakewood and doesn’t know it’s not a safe neighborhood. I’m sure he’ll never make that mistake again!
Oh c’mon, its only unsafe if you think all non-white people are out to get you. I live here and never had a problem, but then again i’m not some xenophobe who’s scared of my own shadow…
THERE IS NOTHING WRONG HERE IN LAKEWOOD—GET A LIFE AND ENJOY THE WALK IN THIS TOWN—NUMBER 12 YOU ARE 100% RIGHT
I’m scared to walk down forest Ave let alone east fourth. Unless officer Butters is working.
What made the gou just walk out ? What a coincidence !
Unless more to it ?
There’s a yeshiva down the block which he was prob walking too so be dan l’caf zechus
Of course there is more to it.
what is safer? walking down ocean and clover at 1am or driving down madison ave at 1 pm on a friday?
Clover St , 90% not from the USA.
another great jop by the lpd
Hey guys, stop blaming the victim. It doesn’t matter if he shouldn’t be awake then, he shouldn’t be walking there, etc. He was assaulted. It’s not his fault. End of story.
famous sticker in Hebrew – “Bakvish al Tiheye Tzodek, Heye Chacham” – or the famous poem about Johnny driving along and didnt yield because he was “right”, now he’s dead, as if he was wrong…
#5 – What’s wrong with a bachur learning late?
And all of you afraid of the dark, take a chill. Ocean Avenue is a public road, and there are cars passing all the time, even at 1 in the morning. When I was that age I used to walk home at night on Ridge Avenue, way before the area was developed. Nothing ever happened, in fact, to all you xenophobes, I even used to occasionally exchange friendly remarks with the people if various cultures who lived there. Obviously you need to use common sense. But walking normally on Ocean Avenue is not a breach of common sense, and it’s not like he was walking in a back alley.
