Authorities pulling over boats for violations in Brick

Heading out on a boat in Brick? Take notice.

On Saturday, July 17th, the Brick Police Marine Unit, consisting of two boats, four officers and two EMTs, made thirteen vessel stops and issued nine summonses for a variety of maritime law offenses, including careless operation, wake zone violations and registration and licensing issues. On Sunday, July 18th, the Marine Unit conducted eleven vessel stops and issued fifteen summonses.

During that weekend, police presence was heavy in and around the F Cove. Agencies that worked together to monitor and patrol there included the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office, the New Jersey State police and the US Fish and Wildlife Service.

“Chief James Riccio would like to remind boaters that our waterways are there for all to enjoy, but that respect for others and the rule of law and orderly operation is paramount in keeping the boating experience pleasant for everyone,” Police said. “Behavior that is disruptive or illegal will be handled accordingly by the men and women of our Marine Unit. Enjoy the summer on the waterways of Brick Township, but do so safely and considerately.”

  1. I got pulled over in my boat the other day. The officer gave me a ticket for going the wrong way down a one way river. He claimed I almost ran over two fish. I’m seriously considering contesting this ticket in court, if I can find out how to get to shore and how to dock my boat. I’ve already been in this boat for 5 days, and I have no idea how to get to land. Text me, please, if you have any solutions for me. Thanx.

  2. You were riding your boat in a very reckless manner! where did you get your license? in a can of Dagim? you almost hit a school of fish! i will report you! i also have a witness- the talking fish from monroe will testify.
