Authorities are investigating a shooting that occurred in Lakewood today.
Earlier this morning, just after 1:00 am, Officer Michael Milano responded to a banquet hall on the second floor of the El Oaxaqueno Supermarket on Clifton Avenue after the police department received a call regarding shots fired.
Upon arrival, Officer Milano as well as other responding Officers, observed large crowds of people exiting on to Clifton Avenue. Officers made contact with club management who reported that there was a physical altercation between party goers inside the hall, but were unaware of any gunfire.
Further investigation led Officers to a rear parking lot where they located evidence of a shooting as well as several cars with damage caused by bullets. Several witnesses estimated approximately six shots were fired towards the rear of the building by one of three males. However, Officers did not locate any gunshot victims on scene and were unable to determine if anyone was inured or struck during the incident.
Information developed suggests that the suspect(s) were last seen wearing, a red sweatshirt, blue denim pants and an unknown baseball style cap. The second male was reported to be wearing a white sweatshirt, blue denim pants and a white baseball cap. The third possible suspect was seen wearing a black sweatshirt, blue denim pants and a black baseball style cap.
All left prior to police arrival, possibly in a gray or silver sedan towards First Street.
The above described suspects are considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who may observe the suspects and/or suspect vehicle is urged to contact 9-1-1. Anyone who may have information regarding the incident is asked to contact Detective Michael Cavallo at 732-363-0200 ext. 5317.
Clifton Ave and the surrounding side streets/municipal lots are a disgrace and really need increased police patrol. There are more and more incidents of crime in that area including shootings and stabbings in the past year. It’s certainly not a safe place after dark. Very sad.
I can’t believe the maid a place like that downtown
This is only a start. Counting number 1
