Authorities Investigating Fatal Stabbing

Ocean County Prosecutor Marlene Lynch Ford made the following statement concerning a fatal stabbing which occurred in Lakewood Saturday night, at approximately 8:00 p.m. Prosecutor Ford says, “Last night at approximately 8:00 p.m., Lakewood police officers were dispatched to the municipal parking lot on Second Street in connection with a report that there was an assault victim there who needed medical assistance. Upon arrival, Lakewood officers discovered Luis Tochihuitl, 18 years of age, lying on the ground near the west entrance to the parking lot suffering from a stab wound to his chest. Mr. Tochihuitl was transported to Kimball Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.

Law enforcement officers from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, the Lakewood Police Department and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department Criminalistics Investigation Unit immediately began to investigate. Witness interviews revealed that a Hispanic male known to call himself “El Cholito” was involved in the altercation that resulted in the stabbing death of Mr. Tochihuitl. Investigators have been unable to locate “El Cholito”.

The investigation is continuing. Anyone who has any information about this case is asked to call Detective Sergeant Carlos TrujilloTovar of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office at (732) 929-2027 or Officer Joseph Gregg of the Lakewood Police Department at (732) 363-0200. TLS.
