PHOTO: A man was assaulted and robbed this afternoon in Lakewood, sources tell TLS. The incident occurred about 4PM in the area of Laurel Avenue and Congress Street.

Sources say the victim was allegedly hit in the head by the suspect, who then proceeded to rob him of his cash. The incident may have been drug related, another source told TLS.

The victim suffered a head laceration and was treated by Lakewood First Aid. Injuries are not life-threatening.

Lakewood’s Detective Bureau and CIU are investigating the incident.
