[AUDIO BELOW] Lakewood Hatzolah personnel today have issued a strong warning after a man claiming to be a ‘federal agent’ interfered with their radio transmissions during an emergency call last night.
After a call for an injured party from an accident, a man – who identified himself as a ‘federal agent’ – could be heard keying into the radio, and requesting the dispatcher to repeat the location of the accident.
The impersonator was then warned over the air to stay off the radios, as he’s breaking FCC protocol.
The man can then be heard again stating he was responding there.
“Unauthorized transmission on an emergency radio frequency and channel is both dangerous and illegal,” a veteran Hatzolah Paramedic told TLS.
Several years ago, Lakewood Hatzolah Captain Meir Lichtenstein issued a similar strong message.
“It was seconds of radio transmissions that literally could have made the difference between life and death,” said Licthenstien.
“I beg parents, if you are going to get your child a radio for Chanukah or any other occasion, please, do not allow them on radios that have the ability to interfere with Hatzolah transmissions. This could be very, very dangerous.”
The person in this case never showed up to the scene, and the incident is being investigated.
Nebech. If it wasnt so sad it would be funny. That guy is nebech, dying, DYING, to be using his dadio in a constructive way. “Good copy” Ha.It is funny.
This is why Hatzolah needs to move to a digital system that has encryption as well. Currently any kid with a $35.00 radio can do this. From what I understand part of their BIG campaign is to upgrade their radios so people can not interfere.
the guy sounds legit. he isnt just a kid.
@Steve – hes NOT legit. He is a kid. An adult kid. Hes 30 yrs old but hes a big, fat baby. If he was legit he would have ID’d himself. Besides, why in the world would a fed need to know the location of a Hatzolah Call ?
Guys let’s be realistic this guy has been interfering with Hatzolah system before he hacked the dispatch lines the other week looking to cause Hatzolah problems
