Ateres Tzipora pens ‘Thank you’ letter to R’ Shlomo Yehuda Rechnitz

Dear R’ Shlomo Yehuda,
Words cannot express our overwhelming feelings of thanks and hakaras hatov.  When we were at the brink of losing a beautiful home for many Jewish girls, you stepped in and prevented what could have been a tremendous tragedy.  You gave us chizuk and warmed our hearts towards continuing to build a true place of chinuch with financial stability.

In a stunning and glaringly obvious irony, the wonderful school you saved through your generosity seems to be the very type of Jewish school you have long described as an institution the Torah community so desperately needs. Ateres Tzipora lives ahavas yisrael when we exert ourselves to welcome every single girl from a Toradik home.  We live nosei b’ol im chaveiro when our acceptance criteria begins with thinking that every girl deserves to be in a warm and loving school, and ends by refusing to think a girl who we have the ability to help should ever “be somebody else’s problem.” We believe that our mission and approach is deeply connected with your awe-inspiring goodness and heart of gold.

R’ Shlomo Yehuda, you’re known for your unstoppable passion for preserving chinuch and making our mesorah available to the next generations. Ateres Tzipora is built on decades of chinuch experience from our devoted menaheles Mrs. Shulamith Insel. Mrs. Insel instills within the school and the girls a love and warmth, which is only possible through her deep passion and dedication for giving over the true values of our mesora, and building the future mothers of Klal Yisroel. This results in our girls having genuine simchas hachaim, which can only come from an inner connection with Hashem and the true Torah values. Once again, we see an obvious connection between the deep roots of Ateres Tzipora and the type of school you have long described and desired for the Torah community.

With endless feelings of gratitude for your generous kindness, we are excited to open the school in just over a week. This is something which we could have not done without you. We look forward to meeting with you in person, so that we can properly thank you, and we can learn from you and receive invaluable guidance in continuing to build the most wonderful
school for these precious girls.

With immense gratitude and admiration,

Avrohom Bernikier

Chairman of the Board

  1. Now., if he can only help with the girls still without a high school so they don’t have the embarrassment of getting in at the last second or after school starts.

  2. Ateres Tziporah is an amazing school where’s a great emphasis on Ruchnius. The parent body are all most all Yeshiva-leit. I observed the cars picking up the children. It’s a Nachas to see the simplicity and Eidel Tznius-dike parent body. They’re a true role model of a school!

  3. “..in a stunning and glaringly obvious irony”. Pray tell, what is the irony that the school Mr Rechnitz is helping so generously is a type of school he would want to help? If anything, helping the school is a fulfillment of his vision.

  4. He can help with the high school problem also. Give Ateres Tziporah enough money to make a high school and then convince all the Askanim that there is at least one high school thst accepts every girl, and there is no longer the need for a vaad.

  5. דעת תורה, Mostly Yeshiva-Leit? I think you passed by a different school and got confused. It’s a very good school for what it is but it is absolutely not mostly yeshiva-Leit. The school has many wonderful qualities but please don’t try to fool us that if someone is learning in yeshiva and he needs a school for his kid then this should be the first choice.

  6. Kuddos R Rechnitz to reaching out and saving the school he should have much Brocha and Hatzalocha. For being a role model for his generosity and tzedaka.

My question is the school was short 180k. That is not such a large sum that the parent body of a school cannot raise. I understand not everyone that goes to the school is well off, but there are many schools with deficits and the hanhala reaches out to parents and asks everyone to push themselves and give more.

It was great marketing on behalf of the school that they are closing the doors but from what I read (I could be wrong) the plight of the school was no different than any other school.
R’ Rechnitz I have many other schools that are also “closing the doors”.

  7. What is the difference what a person does ,whether he is in Yeshiva full time or he is working full time. This is a great frum school with extremely solid Torah hashkofas ,great teachers and staff ,and is a great first choice for any Lakewood child . There is no longer any reason for any parent go say they have no school to go to .

  8. To: Just a thought. Every mosad needs to have someone responsible for the gelt. That someone very often either Grant’s or lends the gelt, when things get tight. Ateres Tzipora had no such person. You can not open a school when teachers have no way of getting paid.it is not as simple as you make it.

  9. to just a thought:
Why are you saying that all that Ateres Tziporah went through..and then to unwillingly ans as a last resort beg the klal for help to prevent their shutting down.. is for good marketing???

  10. To involved person
No one is denying that it’s simple to open and run a schol without funds. What I am saying is parents have a tremendous achraius to help the school as much as they can. There are almost no schools in Lakewood that can survive on the regular tuition. The only way they survive is when parents from the school (not just 2 ) give whatever they can plus some. These are your children. It’s not correct to play with emotions that a school is closing down and everyone should have rachmanus when there is no mention whatsoever what the parents of that school are doing to keep it afloat. The only mention was that there were 2 people that used to hold out the school. From what I understand and I may be wrong there are many schools that have much larger deficits and are not spreading banner headlines “school on the brink of closing” somehow they figure it out.
Parents need to get more involved with doing whatever they can financially to help the school they send their children to.
