At least two Lakewood schools shorten, cancel Friday sessions due to busing issues

At least two Lakewood schools have announced they will be shortening or cancelling sessions on Friday due to busing issues:

Prents received the following text messages today:

“Bais Tova: Jays has just informed us that due to circumstances beyond their control dismissal tomorrow will be at 11:00. Thank you for understanding.”

“Bais Shaindel: Due to the buses requesting an early dismissal tomorrow and the testing schedule this week, there will be no sessions tomorrow, Friday Nov 19. Have a good Shabbos.”

Has your child’s school shortened or cancelled Friday’s sessions?

  1. Girls barely have school as it is on Fridays. The busses come so late, and then they are back on the bus between 11-11:30. Sometimes they are on the bus almost as long as sitting in class!

    • Sometimes? I wish it were sometimes. lol.
School lasts less than 2 hours, since buses start loading at 11/1115 (my school officially doesn’t end early…)
Bus ride for some girls on my daughter’s route starts 7:50 and they arrive at 9:15. It’s beyond ridiculous.

  2. The bussing situation in Lakewood is a complete mismanagement of public funds. There is no accountability, no responsibility. At the right price, bus drivers can be found.

  3. When I was a child, my principal held school for girls should be on Sunday instead of Friday, like this girls could help their parents prepare for Shabbos.

  4. Why is it always the same schools giving in? The school owners may try to be nice people but at the parents expense? I wont go into specifics here but certain schools end at a normal time on friday including last year. Its always the same school owners allowing this. I have kids in both their boys and girls schools. The girls are home the earliest for girls and the boys home earliest for the boys

  5. If it wouldn’t be for the crazy traffic matzav that was created in Lakewood by building on every square inch of dry land, we could do like any other normal city and carpool when there is no bus

  6. I believe that all parents would appreciate 2 hours of school on Sunday instead of Friday for their girls. Instead parents need to find entertainment every Sunday for their children which is another unnecessary expense! Friday’s are short and many parents would appreciate some help.

  7. Girls High schools should be off every Sunday and Friday
4 days a week is enough

The other days can be used to rest and help their Mothers and Family

  8. When i was in school a couple short decades ago, we had school on Friday AND Sunday (gasp!). We survived and thrived. We had plenty down time around mid-terms and finals, plus down time around the musical production.
