Assemblyman Thomson Calls on Attorney General Platkin for Heightened Law Enforcement Presence in Light of Hamas Threats

Following the threats made by global Hamas leaders and their calls for action on this Friday, October 13, New Jersey State Assemblyman Ned Thomson is calling on Governor Murphy and Attorney General Platkin to ensure that there is a heightened law enforcement presence in Lakewood and at Jewish places of worship throughout the state.“

“We have all seen the horrific proof that these threats and calls to action from Hamas are not empty and cannot be taken lightly,” Thomson said in a statement.

“I am urging Governor Murphy and Attorney General Platkin to ensure that proper measures are taken prior to this Friday to secure our Jewish communities and places of worship in these worrying times. Coordination between the FBI, State Police, sheriff’s deputies, and local police departments is necessary to secure soft targets and religious gatherings throughout the state.

My office stands ready to relay reports of suspicious behavior from residents to law enforcement. We cannot afford to be unprepared. We must be diligent,” Thomson added.
