Assemblyman Sean Kean Applauds Israel-Hamas Ceasefire and Hostage Exchange Agreement

Assemblyman Sean Kean today expressed cautious optimism and strong support for the recently announced ceasefire and hostage exchange agreement between Israel and Hamas. The deal, set to be implemented on Sunday, January 19th, pauses the ongoing conflict in Gaza and initiates a phased release of hostages held by Hamas and Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails.

“This agreement marks an important step toward addressing the humanitarian crisis and underscores Israel’s unwavering commitment to the safety of its citizens,” said Assemblyman Kean. “Israel has the right to defend itself, especially following the horrific attacks on October 7. This deal demonstrates the resilience of the Israeli people and their determination to secure justice and safety for all.”

Under the first phase of the deal, Hamas is expected to release 33 hostages, while hundreds of Palestinian prisoners will be released from Israeli custody. Negotiations for a second phase, aimed at a broader resolution to end the conflict, will commence 16 days after the deal’s implementation.

Assemblyman Kean’s district includes Lakewood, NJ, a major center of Orthodox Judaism, where many families have been directly impacted by the ongoing conflict. “Our community in Lakewood has felt the pain of this war acutely, with close family members and friends affected by the October 7th attacks and the violence that has followed,” Assemblyman Kean noted. “We must continue to stand with these families and provide support as they navigate these difficult times.”

While the deal provides a temporary pause in hostilities, Assemblyman Kean reiterated his commitment to advocating for Israel’s long-term security and stability. “Israel is not just a strategic ally but a beacon of democracy in the region. As we look to the next phase of negotiations, it’s essential that the global community continues to back Israel’s right to security and peace,” he said.

    • It was a horrible deal for the Palestinians from the beginning of Zionism, and especially the Nakba (ethnic cleansing) of 1948.

It would be better for everybody if Israeli Jews moved to a more civilized part of the world. Millions of Jews are trapped in Israel (ex. it was the easiest way to get out of the Soviet Union), and would rather be somewhere else. Pretty much all First World countries would now love to have them.

Otherwise there will never be peace. One side is lying about the theft and violence that took place to create Israel. And the other side is 30+ IQ points behind (in part due to massive brain-drain from emigration). Sooner or later – nuke go boom.

Bolshevik / Kibbutz Commie / Zionist fanatics don’t represent all Jews. They are now our greatest liability.

It’s a very big world. Lots of countries are now very friendly to Jews, from Japan to Argentina. Soon there will be space travel. Why die for a piece of land that our ancestors controlled a long time ago, for a tiny fraction of its history?

But I’m sure I’ll get called an “anti-Semite” or a “self-hating Jew” for trying to save millions of Jewish lives…
