‘Askan’ CD To Be Pulled From Shelves

askan cover tls_wmTLS has learned that the ‘Askan’ CD, produced by ‘Moshe Peerim’ of Lakewood, will be pulled from Lakewood stores within the next 48 hours. ‘Peerim’, tells TLS that the decision comes after being contacted by a local Askan saying the CD was appropriate for Purim, but should be removed from the shelves at this point.

“I was shocked to receive a phone call about it, especially after getting such poisitive feedback on it over Purim”, the producer says. “But we will be removing it from the stores”, the producer says.

Hundreds of copies of the CD were sold in Lakewood in the days before Purim.

Below is an edited audio sampler of the CD.

  1. seems to me this is a ploy to get people to buy it otherwise whats this “within 48 hrs” if it should be removed it should be done right away

  2. Actually #3 I was told he will be picking up the remaining copies later today!! 48 hours is just to give time to retrieve them from all the stores.

  3. the clip is actually funny. but the truth is that it isn’t nice to make fun of people when we are always saying “somebody” has to do something.

  4. I bought the cd right when it came out and i couldnt stop laughing. I must have heard it 45 times. The truth is i was wondering why this wasn’t banned right away….

  5. I AM VERY SORRY BUT IT IS TOTALLY CALLED FOR. WE DAVEN EVERY SHABBOS FOR ALL THE OSKIM BETZORCHEI TZIBBUR BE’EMUNAH… AND THEN YOU MAKE FUN OF THEM!! THIS BAN SHOULD HAVE TAKEN PLACE BEFORE IT CAME OUT.

  6. As an asken I can appreciate the sense of humor and I can see the underlying love that the klall has for myself and my other asknim friends.

  7. all these blogs-including 6,7,8,9, &10-are all blogs to convince you to buy it & is a pure act of corruption. stop corrupting yourselves (salesmen) before its too late. CORRUPTION BRINGS A PERSON TO DESTRUCTION

  8. Thanks. just bought it this afternoon. didn’t know about it, but I’m pretty sure this was an advertising ploy anyways to get rid of the purim leftovers. Well let’s see how good it is.

  9. I am just wondering whether it is muttar to make fun of or take a chance of hurting someones feelings just because it is around Purim? How low have we gone? How would each and every one of you out there who had a laugh at someone elses expense and “loved” the cd, feel if it was you or someone you knew well being made fun of b’rabim? It is nothing short of a bizayon. And in Lakewood Ir Hatorah too…..We need serious help.

  10. i loved it and thought it was hiLarious as i know the author personally ,i know he is not trying to degrade anyone and he meant well keep up the good work

  11. All they forgot to do was put the picture of the chofitz chayim on the CD, put a haskama from the rubbish rebbe on it and it would certainly show how much we actually take what we learn to heart.

Maybe the problem is we’re so lost in identifying and figuring out ‘neat’ scheming ways to speak Loshom Hara – How about tyring ONLY to speak LShon Tov!!

  12. I never heard of this cd before, but I’m definitely going to buy it now, before my 48 hours are up!! It sounds absolutely hilarious!

  13. I wouldn’t want to be responsible for having produced the askan CD (I do own it and intend on keeping it)but I hope that hose who feel they are being made fun of think into that maybe it’s hurting a raw nerve because the producer has a point.

The askan CD does not make fun of any Chesed organizations or people who are clearly acting altruistically.(I do NOT mean to imply that none of those who are made fun of are altruistic)

  14. Is comedy always lashon hara?

    I would think not.

Does comedy only have a place around Purim?

    I would think not.

Feel free to correct me if you feel that I am wrong.

All good comedy has its roots in truth and reality. It can sting, but brings joy to most. Finding the line where comedy ends and offense starts can be difficult, but it is doable, however, first one must have a sense of humor.

Me, I didn’t find the clip terribly funny. I am quite amused, however, that it’s the local Askan that has gotten the CD pulled – but only after Purim. I guess the Askan sense of humor is controlled by the calendar. If there were an issue of lashon hara, there would be no room for selling it on Purim at all – so that can’t be the case.

  15. Now that I ran out and bought it I can give an educated review: for all those that are posting loshon horoh concerns your hypocrites!! Did you even listen to the cd? There is no loshon horoh at all its just real down to earth political satire in a very creative forum!! Ashrecha lakewood that produces such kishron. Moshe Peerim whoever you are keep it coming!

  16. what do goyim think, I listend to the track and I loved it, I would rather list to this than the rappers, this is wonderful, loved it. I don’t think it in bad taste, like I said would rather list to this than any rap music, loved it.

  17. to # 21 not to worry what we think , loved the track that i listened to and just loved it, like # 28 said I rather listen to this then to some of the terrible rap music out there, loved it thank you
