PHOTO: In preparation for Hurricane Sandy, LCSW (Lakewood Civilian Safety Watch) has set up a fully operational command room equipped with generators that will be servicing the needs of the community.
In close communication with the authorities, as well as with local volunteer organizations, LCSW will endeavor to assist as many Lakewood residents as possible by prioritizing based on the needs of individual residents, LCSW says.
“We are fully equipped with vehicles and equipment to be used to transport and evacuate people, a limited amount of generators, and constant patrols”, says LCSW Director Shrage Pinter. “In storm and power outage scenarios, people are more vulnerable. If you see something you think is wrong, please do not hesitate to call LCSW at 732-367-1212, and the professional staff of volunteers will investigate immediately and determine if police need to be called. In case of a true emergency, please call police immediately.”
“In order to be prepared for all possibilities, LCSW has prepared a tremendous facility that can serve as a shelter for thousands of people. The facility is equipped with a generator, walk-in freezers, refrigerators, food, and sleeping facilities for 250 people. Those who need to evacuate are welcome to call LCSW at 732-367-1212 in order to make use of the shelter.”
Pinter adds, “Please be sensitive to the hardworking volunteers, who have been working for hours to prepare in advance of the storm, and do not waste their time. There will be many people in need, and the volunteers must make good use of every minute.” TLS.
