The U.S. Justice Department says owners and managers of a Lakewood apartment complex will pay $200,000 to settle allegations that they discriminated against Hispanic and African-American tenants. The lawsuit filed on behalf of tenants at the ———— Apartments, claims the management transferred black and Hispanic tenants from the complex’s most desirable building to make room for yidden, whom they courted as new tenants from 2002 to 2004 and charged lower rent. Under the settlement announced today, the defendants will pay $170,000 to the victims and $30,000 to the government as a civil penalty. The agreement must still be approved by a federal judge. NJ.
