A string of politicians and analysts are talking corruption in Trenton today. The state Assembly Republican Policy committee is probing the issue, which is always in the backdrop of the state’s political world. The hearing comes as a gubernatorial election ramps up, pitting former corruption-busting U.S. Attorney Chris Christie, a Republican, against Democratic incumbent Jon Corzine. Republicans contend Corzine has not done enough to stop corruption, though he has not been implicated in any scandal. Forty-four people were charged last month in a wide-ranging New Jersey corruption probe. Some were public officials, including lawmakers and mayors. AP
